🟣⚪️🟢

Our cup ‘run’ comes to an end with defeat in the semi-final against CR FC.

Both teams kept each other relatively quiet for the majority of the game, with CR putting more pressure on Aberfield’s defence throughout but, with the exception of a headed goal from a corner midway through the first half, not getting anywhere with it.

Aberfield hit the bar in the first half and CR did in the 2nd, but other than those there weren’t a lot of clear cut chances in the game for either side.

As such, Aberfield couldn’t find the opportunity to get on the scoresheet and back into the game and it ended 1-0.

A much stronger performance by us this time round when compared with our last meeting with CR in the league, however it wasn’t enough to see us into the final.

All the best to CR FC in the final after a great first season in the league. 👍

We didn’t fall at the second to last league hurdle so much as fail to get out the gate.

Bucksburn capitalised on a few errors and we never gave ourselves any opportunities to recover from them.

We turn our attention to Sunday, where we face CR FC in the semi-final of the Aimin Elmegirab cup.

Next up for Aberfield - we take on Bucksburn in our penultimate league game of the season.

We’ll be looking to pick up another 3 points and finish this season strong. 🙌🏻

Aberfield v threaded fc

Today saw us take on threaded in a cup quarter final

Threaded went up 1-0 early on in the game from a good strike outside of the box

But for the majorty of the game we were all over them blatant hand balls in the box and a goal not given after finding the back of the net

Shortly after our captain James slotted home a lovely taken penalty to make it 1-1 at half time

After missing chances and chances and a good few saves from threaded keeper kept the score level

Until Chris slotted home a nakamura esque top bin free kick to make it 2-1 followed up by a nice assist from Tyrone for Chris to slot home a 2nd goal to make it 3-1.

A lovely corner whipped into the box from Marc Davies found Tyrone’s head to seal the deal and make it 4-1

🟣 Aberfield v Westhill 🔵

This morning saw Aberfield take on a depleted Westhill squad; unfortunately they only brought 8 players.

Aberfield exploited the difference in numbers and went in at half time 5-1, however arguably Westhill played better than we did considering the lesser numbers.

The second half was more of the same, a relatively poor showing from Aberfield with silly passing decisions, but the numbers made it too easy and it was 11-1 after 15 minutes.

Westhill forfeited after our 11th goal and we wrapped up there.

All credit to the 8 Westhill lads that made it along today. They also had the best goal of the game.

🟣 Aberfield vs Forrit Brae 🔘

This evening saw Aberfield take on Forrit Brae at a sunny Sheddocksley.

We got off to the worst of starts, with a poor pass-back and an awkward sun leading to the opening goal within the first few minutes.

The rest of the first half was a scrappy affair, with Aberfield on the back foot for the majority. Forrit never capitalised and the first half finished 1-0.

After regrouping and getting stuck in from the first whistle of the 2nd half following a stray pass going out for a throw-in, our LW Viktor threw the ball in behind for Jake to d**k over the keeper and in at the back post around 20 seconds after the restart. 1-1.

A lot of soft fouls throughout the 2nd half disrupted play and slowed down any momentum. Forrit managed to expose us and get on the end of a rebound following a solid save from keeper Neeps. 2-1.

Aberfield didn’t let the heads go down and a corner coming in from the left was missed in the box by the Forrit defence, falling to James who looped a shot over the keeper from around 12 yards and into the far corner. 2-2.

With around 20 minutes left to play we lost the ball in possession at the back and Forrit quickly countered and put a soft shot away into the far corner. 3-2.

10 minutes later a silly foul around 25 yards out gave Forrit a free kick which was well taken and saw us go 4-2 down.

Some good battling around the pitch at times, but too much respect and not enough clinical finishes saw us falter this evening. Final score 4-2. 👎

We go again Sunday vs Westhill. 💜

A depleted Aberfield squad turned up against a very up for it opposition.

Back and forth first half going into the second at 0-0.

Early into the second half we opened the scoring through our captain James after a high corner whipped in by Tyrone met James head beautifully and nestled into the back of the net.

2-0 came after a long goal kick from Zack went through the threaded midfield and chased down by Jake and slotted into the net.

Our third came from a Rory Delap esq throw from Daniel was met by GK turned Striker Neeps big heed.

Threaded were given a soft pen at the end of the game to end it 3-1
