Running has mostly gone missing from my routine over the past couple of months. It’s OK because most people who train regularly need a bit of time off for; rest, recovery, and mentally apply yourself to other important tasks or priorities. Some call it off-season, some call it slacking, but most just naturally slip into a slower pace without the pressure of events and the winter weather sets in. What’s important is how we REACT; I have the experience and tools to plan a gradual transition back to fitness. Not so sure it’s great form, back leg doing way too much ! Positioning bad Shoes bad they look the wrong size. However there are some positives! She’s trying. This could of been avoided if she had a spotter a good PT or even a safety rack. Be safe out there 🙈🙏👍
Massive congratulations to Tobias . Over the years with us at VIBE He’s gone from strength to strength and now has a half marathon to add to his list of achievements. Tobias Never really been into running achieved a remarkable time of 2.21 and continues to raise money for what a top guy.

That was a hot one 🥵. Put it all out there. Had a strong 4 miles but couldn’t hold it to the end. That’s what pushing the limits is all about I suppose. Not a PB effort but STILL happy with the result 19th overall and 3rd old man 🥉 . Good work old man 💪🤣

Join Simon Online from the comforts of your own home from November 1st for 6 weeks . A 45 minute class that starts gently easing the body with some mobility exercises to tackle problematic areas of the body. Then starts to challenge the body gradually with breathe at the forefront of each pose. In the class you will see some simple Yoga sequences , Pilates and targeted midsection work. Finally the performance I have waited a long time for. After qualifying for London 2020 my training was on track in March, but a COVID hiatus forced the race back to Autumn 2021. Training for that went well again but an unfortunate sickness bug in the lead up meant the race went really really badly. So I entered Chicago in the hope to exercise some demands. Training plan x3 was a little rocky this time including a few running related accidents and injuries. But overcoming adversity, finally my plan came together on the day. Taking over 2 minutes off my previous best time. It’s hard to put into words the emotions I felt on the finish line but the relief was massive and the embraces from my family at the end were overwhelming. Plus they brought doughnuts 🍩. Chicago has been awesome. And we celebrated hard tonight with the best deep dish pizza 🍕 in town and a few 🍻. Keep pushing everyone…… it’s worth it in the end.

PAUL TAKING ON HIS OWN CHALLENGE
Well that ended up being one of the toughest things I’ve done. I’m 40 this year and not in the shape I was 5 years ago so this year was a bit of a test to see if I could love cycling and running like I used to. (Cycling yes running not so much) I signed up for Bournemouth marathon and The infamous Marmotte Garn Fondo. Yesterday capped this off in 35 degree temperatures where 50% of the field failed to finish. I managed it but it really managed to challenge my mental strength. I’m a good deal heavier than I used to be (2 large rocks) but I’ve now realised that’s more natural to me the ex rugby player who enjoys a little socialising. I’m really pleased to have completed it and got my medal. Ps alpe’d’huez at the end of the day is quite possible the most mentally challenging endurance task I’ve ever done.

I’m a few years older but only a minute slower over the half. I’ll take that.

Ballet Fit Workshop!
Yesterday’s session at was a super sweaty one!
We worked on connections, posture, alignment, breath support, placement, stability, turn out and strength. All with the help of the instruments of torture - theraband, sliders, yoga straps, loop bands and yoga blocks!
Fun to team teach with and pool our knowledge.
ONLINE
Going online I was a little unsure at first and you know well Covid didn’t really give me a choice . Well what I do have to say is that it’s opened a few doors and to be reaching out to people all over the world meeting in one place a one time is pretty awesome it . It has been enlightening to listen to peoples behaviours, routines and in some cases barriers to fitting in physical activity. Ive really enjoyed working with WorldCC helping and setting the group up gives each team member a place to focus on themselves behind closed doors in an environment they feel comfortable in. Personally I prefer face to face as in my opinion gives me and participants a fuller practical experience and a better framework for feedback. But ultimately online helps initiate a routine. Keep at it, and how ever you do it just keep doing it ..

With great sadness I recently lost one of my best friends. Keith was one of a kind. An inspirational mentor of mine for over 15 years. Our journey went from professional to friendship very quickly. We shared many adventures together, made many memories over many miles.

We had planned on one more adventure to Malta to do their marathon again, as it was his favourite event. Sadly his health took a turn for the worse and we lost another great man to cancer. His drive to raise funds for CRUK was close to his heart and his friends and family are passionate about making this loss as positive as possible by striving to meet Keith’s £35k target. On the 6th March we will be running/walking marathon distances in his memory.

The challenge
On May 3rd, James Shone and our 'I Can & I Am' team will row across the English Channel to raise funds for the running of our double decker bus. The bus has had a wonderful pilot year, inspiring self-belief in over 3,500 people who have spent time on board.
This epic row is a huge challenge for all the team, most notably James whose minimal sight means that intense concentration is required to row in time with his colleagues. Coupled with this, having suffered two strokes, he also has limited movement down one side of his body.
COOL BUS
The bus has been on the road for a year now and wherever we go, it feels like we are addressing a very real need as our young people continue to face unprecedented mental health challenges. These are some of the results from our ‘Pilot Year’:
3,500 young people (aged from 6-25) have taken part in sessions on the bus
200 teachers have taken part in workshops

We all have a balloon of self-belief inside us; when it’s full, life tends to be good, we bounce back from setbacks, we feel we have purpose. When it’s deflated, life becomes a struggle. Our mission is to enable those we work with to recognise their own balloon, and give them the tools to keep it inflated. The strength of this message is that it’s simple.

ADAPTABLE
Some days adapting the plan is needed, as from time to time mentally the planned programme can be too much . We recognise that interaction partner work in training keeps clients stimulated. So mixing it up with some fun and games .This one running around chasing lights from keeps our clients alert in the present and still reaping some great benefits of staying active.

I thought it was cold out today?? A hot mess following my Threshold run test. 🔥 Not up to my usual pace, following an inconsistent few months - due to injury and January blues. But a benchmark laid down to hopefully prove a couple of months solid training down the line will see improvement…… time and effort now!

Monday - 7-8 Power Bike - Power Intervals 6-10 second efforts with 2 minute recovery, great for those people who miss a challenging spin class.
Monday - 18.15-19.00 V-Fit - Total Body Conditioning. Includes; Lunges, Squats, Press, Pull, Twist, Floor work. We do our best to hit every muscle group with heaps of variety. Usually finishes off with HIIT. Can be adapted to suit all abilities.
