I’m very pleased with how Darren Worrall has embraced the opportunity the Personal Trainers mentorship program has created for him-

These words and pictures are his -

This is what 19 months of relentless dedication to lifestyle change ”can” look like.

It doesn’t have to look like this to be in the healthy ranges, however, I have pushed myself to perform like an athlete again and I feel amazing and in the best shape physically and mentally I have ever been!

What these photos fail to show, are the things that have significantly improved in my life from owning my personal scenario since the first photo:

1. Self Esteem ⬆️✅
2. Passion and drive for living again ⬆️✅
3. Relationships with family & friends ⬆️✅
4. Resilience ⬆️✅
5. Increased productivity at work ⬆️✅

These are to name a few but are extremely important to me as a person and I’m so pleased to have these traits back in my life as a result.

Things that these photos equally don’t show that are important to note, that have changed since photo 1:

1. No lower back pain ✅
2. No knee pain ✅
3. No snoring while sleeping ✅
4. No acid reflux symptoms at all ✅
5. Best gut health I have ever had ✅

My main reason for sharing this message with you is that the 19-month result is only because I started in the first place. Everything I have stated above would not have improved on its own. I had to make a change to actualise this. Accountability worked extremely well for me to do this. You have the power to change your current situation if you need it.

I just want to truly thank my mentor and coach Tom Crudgington for everything since January 2023, every PT mentorship weekend I come away from, really inspires me to be more and push my career and personal development further and further.

Stop looking to be able to do everything you currently do and expect change.

To improve your body composition and health markers you have to learn to say NO to certain things.

To get fitter and stronger you have to accept there will be a period of feeling uncomfortable and you’ll be a bit sore and sweaty.

There is always a trade off to some extent.

Stop believing the “influencers” that tell you, “you can have your cake and eat it” - it’s bu****it if you want to change.

The choice is yours….

Choose your hard.

James’s thoughts on the Personal Trainer mentorship program -

For me it’s just the little gold nuggets of new exercises or changes and minor adjustments to ones I currently teach, particularly more variation in transverse plane exercises.
I have found it great for my group sessions with the ability to take a simple exercise and keep it simple for those who need simple or to make it really complex for those who need more of a challenge both clients doing the same exercise and getting. A great workout just on different levels.

Personally Tom has been great helping me keep my own training.
Been a tough year personally but we have kept training relevant to what l actually need for my current goal and not stressing about being good at everything.
He will call me out if I make bad decisions, and when you do well you know he is secretly pleased even if he still calls me a dick!
The extra focus has made some serious jumps in my cycling ability. look forward to what the next year brings.

How the mentorship has
enhanced my business - I would say that every session for the last 12 years or so in The Fitness Society has had elements of things learned in Body Development. These have helped us structure sessions effectively while also keep things fun, interesting and exciting for the members.
Personal impact - It’s been brilliant for my own training over the years - again helping keep it fresh and effective.

Tom has also helped with the enjoyment l have as a PT as every time l’m on my way back from a mentorship I feel even more excited about getting to the gym and practicing, then integrating things learned.
Along with feeling more determined about raising my own standards and those of the

MEET NEW BD COACH LUKAS JANDIK

Here’s a bit about Lukas…

➡️TIME IN THE INDUSTRY- 2 Years…

‘I’ve been doing martial arts since I was 6 years old. I trained Karate, Judo, Taekwondo and Kickboxing which became my favourite and been doing it for more than 6 years now. I’ve been coaching for about 2 years and recently finished my qualification as kickboxing instructor.’

➡️FAVOURITE SESSIONS TO COACH-

‘Anything kickboxing/boxing related really, but I do like coaching high intensity, more fast paced classes, where you have to push yourself through fatigue which simulates how you feel during the fight.’

➡️WHAT ARE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS?

‘I competed in Judo and Taekwondo back in Czech republic when I was a kid and had some wins at local tournaments. In kickboxing I placed myself third and second in Sanda National championship. I also had an amateur K1 fight which I drew.’

➡️WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

‘In my spare time I like to spend as much time outdoors as I can, going for runs, walks, hikes or travel and visit new places. I like to learn new skills and things all the time, for example recently I’ve been trying to learn the guitar.’

MEET NEW BD COACH OLLY STACEY

Please welcome Olly to the Body Development team of coaches! We are very pleased to have him with us and he’s doing a great job coaching the Thursday morning classes.

Here’s a little bit about Olly…

➡️TIME IN THE INDUSTRY- 8 Years.

➡️WHAT DO YOU ENJOY COACHING?
I enjoy coaching for strength, mainly using barbells and dumbbells. However, recently have found a new love for different kinds of training equipment such as TRX and clubs.

Prior to getting my personal training qualification I did years of football and athletics coaching. Since qualifying I’ve focused more around small group strength training.

➡️ACHIEVEMENTS-
I competed in the 200m in the Olympic stadium for the University games. I’ve also completed 4 Tough Mudder events.

➡️WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I’m a collector of indoor plants and lego, so that takes up most of my time outside of the gym. Otherwise I enjoy exploring new places and restaurants.

MEET NEW BD COACH SARAH LILLYWHITE

‘At BD I LOVE coaching FIT - the energy in the classes is just brilliant, seeing people push themselves and respond to being pushed is fantastic.’

➡️ACHIEVEMENTS-

‘I’ve been entering running events since 2013 but in 2023 I decided to take to the trails and totally fell in love with it all over again. I completed my first 50km (Big Way Round) and then 100km (Race to the Stones) ultra trail marathons and now totally have the bug! I also completed Barcelona road marathon in March 2024 and am goiong back to the trails for Race to the King 100km in June 2024.’

➡️WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

‘I’m usually in the gym taking part in my favourite BD classes or out running tbh!
Other than that I do love a coffee date with friends, a yoga/pilates class or heading out for a hilly hike.’

It’s great to have Sarah with us and we will be introducing you to both Olly Stacey and Lukas Jandik shortly, so stay tuned for more!

Great to see clients hit their goals.

Yesterday in Florida, my client qualified for the World Championships in New Zealand for the 70.3 Ironman.

He finished in the top 3% in Florida with a huge power improvement in the bike, especially.

And still lots of work to do and improvements to be made.

Back to planning.

Today we say farewell to the brilliant BD Coach Ella Cosgrove, who after x4 years at Body Development is leaving us to spend time travelling around Europe.

Ella has been a fantastic coach and delivered excellent classes, 1-2-1 boxing sessions and did a great job coaching the Teen Boxing classes. She has become a big part of BD and we will all miss her very much but on the other hand we are very happy to see her take on some exciting new adventures in Italy and beyond!

Good luck to you Ella!! Thank you for being such a dedicated member of the team, for all that you’ve done for BD Gym and for the members too.

We look forward to seeing you soon and hearing all about your travels when you’re back in the UK!!

MY TRAINING SCHEDULE…

‘Just like my work I always plan my training week. There’s few things that get in the way of my workout time and if anything I’ll add more depending on how my body is feeling on the day.’

Here’s a typical week…

▪️MONDAY AM-
MET CON circuit, 30 on 10 off x8, rest 1 minute & repeat x6 times.
I use a combination of ski erg, inertia wave, slam ball, medi ball, sprints and run the step drills.

▪️TUESDAY AM-
FULL BODY WEIGHTS, 40 on 20 off x5 exercises, x2 sets of each exercise, rest 1 minute & repeat for x3 rounds. Total of x30 sets. Exercises include pull ups, goblet squats, Persian press ups, FFE split squats & shoulder pressing.
Plus x5 sets of abs to finish.

▪️WEDNESDAY AM-
MET CON circuit as Monday morning.

▪️THURSDAY AM-
FULL BODY WEIGHTS as Tuesday.

& PM- 6 MILE RUN split into x2. The first 3 miles I complete just before I take my run club out for a further 3 miles.

▪️FRIDAY- REST DAY.

▪️SATURDAY AM-
MET CON circuit again.

▪️SUNDAY AM-
10-12 MILE RUN at 7.30am.

During the summer months this will change as I’ll be substituting x2 of the Met Con workouts for x2 6-8 MILE RUNS, my favourite kind of workout.

Because they revolutionise the way they approach coaching their clients.

They learn simple structures to apply.

They get more job satisfaction and fulfilment from coaching with confidence.

Wishing .tri good luck next week in the South Africa Ironman.

It’s been a good training camp with a focus on Tri-planar strength, a big shift in nutrition and far better sleep.

Combine this with the great team he has around him in specific triathlon training and he is in good shape and hoping he has a good race on the day.

Coming off a week of coaching with in Majorca will have done him good too 💪

It was great to have these guys join us on Thursday evening for our weekly RUN CLUB!

It was surprisingly warm and no rain this week (unlike last Thursday) which made the conditions perfect for our x3 1 mile laps along the river and through Victoria Park.

Run club is back on the timetable for the rest of 2024 and is FREE for our members and friends and family.

On the program we run the coaches through our approach to nutritional coaching - here’s Ollie’s thoughts……

Before the mentorship I was looking for a way to improve myself as a coach and also an individual. I enjoyed strength training and long distance running but didn’t follow nutrition practices which allowed me to get the most out of either. I overcomplicated my own training and my clients.

I had spent some time with Tom at Body Development and had been fascinated by the results he was getting with general population clients. And with the methods he was doing so. When he hinted at the opportunity of doing a mentorship again I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. Not just to learn but also to be part of the community and have time with likeminded coaches.

I can’t put into words the impact the mentorship has had on me both on a professional and physical level. A year on and I feel like a different man and a different coach.

Professionally it has simplified the way I work and I’m getting the best results I have ever got with clients. I am more confident both in the way I coach but also how I want to coach. I am more driven than ever to get better results with my clients and with myself.

Physically it has been transformative. Since I have changed my nutrition my physical ability has skyrocketed. I’m leaner, fitter, stronger and running better times than ever before. My energy has gone through the roof and I am recovering faster, allowing me to do more.

I can back up everything I coach with first hand experience and feel that I look like a physical representation of that.

The scariest part is that I still feel like I’m scratching the surface with what I am physically capable of.

About Body Development Bath...

When Tom and Karen opened Body Development in 2008 it was just a small studio in Bath city centre specialising in personal training. After just 12 months BD was growing rapidly and decided to expand and move to a larger premises.

The new premises enabled BD to provide classes, personal training and a brand new mentoring programme for personal trainers using Tom’s expertise and knowledge from over 25 years in the industry.

Over the past 10 years, co owner Tom has educated over 1000 personal trainers and continues to do so with his BD Coach mentoring programme.

The class timetable has evolved dramatically and the classes designed are both unique and diverse. We have 8 signature classes that are not only designed to complement one another, but are planned on an 8 week cycle and even taught to the personal trainers, whom we coach, on the BD Coach mentoring programme.
