LP Physiotherapy & Pilates
A forward thinking evidence based practice in South Belfast, with a focus on patient centred care
There will always be some people screaming about how their type of exercise is the superior - often because they have a financial foot in the game- but how good can it be for you if you don’t do it?!
Choosing exercise you love with improve your relationship with exercise, and mean you are much more likely to continue!
I change my mind fairly frequently as to what’s my favourite form - and that really suits me- I mix it up. For a few weeks I’ll run more than anything else. Then a few weeks I’ll focus on something else. As someone who’s fitness goal is overall health with no specific performance goals this works for me and stops me getting bored!
Have a think about what works for you, and don’t let anyone bully you into an exercise type you do not enjoy*
*for the most part!

I am the absolute worst at not actually advertising my services.
The on demand library was launched in 2021, and has been growing ever since.
As the library has grown so have the options to access it.
With four separate subscription levels, plus the option to rent individual classes: there really is an option for everyone!
Any questions, let me know! I’d love to hear from you if you’ve already subscribed!

Any questions?
A day of filming always leaves me feeling absolutely exhausted, but also super excited for all the people that are going to practice these classes!
Did you know that there are options to rent individual classes for 48hours, as well as the various subscription options?
Sign up to email list today (and get a free class) and you’ll maybe get a sneaky discount code!
These are my current Pilates offerings?
I currently have some space in the (fully booked for 2 years!) Pilates for pain class, so drop any questions below!
I set out to run 6-7 km today, but only managed 5km. And slow at that.
It’s so easy to get frustrated and down when I didn’t hit my goal and the only way my pace is changing is to get even slower 😂
But sometimes you’ve to tell yourself to wise up. When I started running I was done at 60 seconds.
So running a 5k in the sunshine with spf in my eye and a screw in my shoe is still an achievement!
*dont worry it wasn’t a full screw- snapped in half, no tetnus shots required!
So to celebrate you 0.05 percenters who have run a marathon! 50% off all massage services for the rest of April and May. Book as normal and bring your medal with you to get the discount!
I’m off for a week!
If you want to do some Pilates during the Easter break, check out my on Demand.
A pre recorded classes for everything!
You can rent individual classes for 48HRs; or take a monthly subscription.
Let me know if you’ve any questions!
The Natal Mum Check: what is it and who needs one?
Second question first- everyone! If you have had a baby you should have one. Ideally offered by your gp/midwife at 6 weeks post delivery. But we do not live in an ideal world: and this service is being offered less and less.
It is never too late, if you delivered 6 weeks, months or years this service is always relevant.
And the Gold standard for pelvic health as per the WHO.
Number 2: what is it?
A chance to check in on how you are doing and recovering post natal. A chance to assess your pelvic health and how best to progress and rehab.
**yes even if you had a “good delivery”
Any Questions, lemme know!
Ahhh my Tuesday night zoom Pilates guys are the best! They laugh at my rubbish jokes and don’t judge when I can’t get into Teaser first try 😂
Wanna try some judgement free fun classes? Link in bio obvs!
This isn’t even all of them!
I’ve done training on specific equipment such as the small balls, foam rollers and standing foam pads.
I also did the HIIT training, but the less said about that the better 😂
So much of my inspiration and creativity comes from attending other classes also!
Patients frequently say to me “I wish I could take you time with me”. Well now you can….sort of!
A physiotherapist in your front room on Demand 24/7!
A class for everyone, and a subscription for everyone.
All month by month, can be cancelled at any time!
Tag your friends/family who may benefit!
5 types of classes you’ll find in the On Demand Library.
This list is not exhaustive.
Leave me a comment with any particular type of class you might like to see next!
A six class progressing set for complete beginners/ people new or returning to exercise!
Currently available to rent for 48HRs. Will be part of the subscription from next week.
Any questions?
I recently had a patient who was so stressed out that the idea of trying to reduce his stress was causing him more stressed. Overwhelmed.
Instead of trying to magically fixed his stress we looked at a few aspects he could make his life 1% easier.
He is lucky enough to be financially stable, so we discussed getting a cleaner and using a meal prep service. This is not necessarily a realistic 1% for most obviously.
But maybe you could say no more often? Go to bed 20-30mins earlier? Walk 10mins more a day.
All the 1%s add up!
Reducing stress, and making your life a few percentages easier can have a very positive impact on pain!
Let me know what your 1% is?
Let’s stop adding unnecessary barriers to exercise (and making people feel terrible about themselves), and allow everyone to enjoy Pilates in a way that works for them?

A different Thursday evening! Managed to get invited to the Belfast Film Festival showing ofThe Last Rifleman. My first (and last 😂) film credit! Give it a watch…but have the tissues ready/wear waterproof mascara! A beautiful and sad film.
*you also can see the back of my head at one point from my day as an extra!!
This has come up a lot this week!
Oh I didn’t book one because I didn’t have a difficult birth and I’m recovering well.
Even if you have the most straightforward delivery you have still grown a human. Your body has changed in untold ways.
Frequently pelvic health issues do not become symptomatic until years later.
The Natal Mum check is for everyone who is post pregnancy. Ideally at around 6-8 weeks, but it can be at any time.
Any questions fire me a DM!
This is what can happen when we exercise regularly with consistency!
Side note: the phrase “on my hunkers” absolutely baffled me when I moved to Belfast 😂

New Class

This class is not advised for those currently in pain, or suitable for pregnancy.
This will be available for booking on the website, or drop in- though this will run the risk of there being no space.
Any questions fire me a DM!
Recently (6-8 weeks ago) had a baby?

3 Years of LP Pilates and Physiotherapy!
(Well it was 3 years on Friday, but I was busy and missed 😂).
Flown by!
Have you been a patient/ attended a class? I’d love it if you left me a google review or shared this post…consider it a birthday gift!
Pain is a frustratingly complex topic. One exercise can work wonders for one person with back pain, and can really aggravate another person with the same pain.
There’s so much about it that we don’t yet understand.
We do know that mood and stress can hugely impact our pain experience. So trying to manage these aspects can be massively beneficial.
People often feel that when in pain they should stay in, rest and do nothing: this is generally very counter productive. Try and do your normal life activities that make you happy: and modify as needed.
Any questions about this tricky topic?
I love an analogy. This one makes perfect sense to me (I really like spuds) and hopefully you too!
I see far too many patients worrying about what type of exercise they need to be doing and getting bogged down in technique and form.
I see far too many physios and the like selling over complicated plans (which are grand if you like them and they’re explained well)- with promises of this being it! The one that’s going to fix you!
Focus on what you wanna do in that day- yoga, pilates, a run, weights.
Eat a variety of spuds.
Which is your favourite spud/ exercise?
This make me sound class, but honestly this patient worked so insanely hard to get to where they are. That’s the important stuff.
I’m a bit class though.
Ever been told your pain in your back is due to weak glutes? Or maybe because you’re breathing wrong, your rib cage isn’t moving, your posture is poor, you’ve poor quality movements….the list goes on.
Do these techniques sometimes work? Yes and. It may appear they’re working, but lots of things often just get better over time.
There is no good quality evidence to support such treatment techniques.
I find they can be a bit like horoscopes. When you really want you can make anything fit. And when people are in pain, they want to believe there’s magic way of moving to fix them. And they’ll pay for it.
Are all therapists who use techniques disingenuous and just after your money? No, but some probs are.
Big welcome to the newest member of the Team!
Meet Clo aka Clo-dog, the lab previously known as Chloe.
We were super lucky to be able to adopt Clo from and she’s an absolute dream.
