Over this past six months Lenadoon Community Forum have organised several consultation events so the voice of local people is front
and centre in a new 5 Year Lenadoon Area Plan – Making Life Better in Lenadoon. Over the next three months the Forum will continue
to work to make this happen. To ensure local people ‘have their say’ and give their views and opinions on how life can be improved
for residents of all ages and abilities, a door-to-door survey will take place.
Forum representatives will call to every home over the last 10 days of March, to ensure as many residents as possible complete the
brief questionnaire. This edition of the Community Magazine has a copy of the questionnaire in the Centre Pages. It takes no longer
than 3-4 minutes to complete. If you complete it, our Volunteers will collect if from you and you will be entered into a free draw which
has 6 x £50 Vouchers for prizes. Alternatively, you can drop a completed copy into the Glen Community Complex, 41c Suffolk Road
between 9am and 9pm (Monday-Friday). The door to door collection of the questionnaires will take place on the following dates:-

APEX - Mixed-use Urban Village Site at Glenmona by Apex Housing
Association under the guidance of BW Social Affordable Housing - The new development will deliver 653 social and affordable homes. Planning has been granted which includes a community centre with MUGA (multi-use games area) pitch, two care homes, a neighbourhood
retail centre, a hotel and a children’s play area. Another Housing Developer is planning another 50 new homes adjacent to this site.
Radius - Newhill, Whiterock This 28-unit social housing development
proposal includes provision of new access, below ground pumping station, open space and associated landscaping. Planning was approved at BCC Committee on 19th September 2023. Radius are now working towards tender document preparation, project approval and
acquisition completion, to achieve a March 2024 target for construction contract award and start on site.
Clanmill/Apex New 122 Homes - We look forward to delivering
new homes for people who need them in West Belfast in partnership with Apex Housing, as planning permission has been granted for our new development close to Upper Springfield Road adjacent to Dermott Hill and Belfield old St Gerard’s School Site.

Housing Needs Advice Initiative.
Is your house too small or now too big for you, are you looking
to move closer to Family, to work, to your Children’s School, to a bigger/smaller house, ground floor or Bungalow/Apartment accommodation. Would you consider Transferring or Swapping to a different property that would better suit your Living conditions, Health
or financial needs?

The purpose of this initiative is to provide advice and create
a data base for the N.I. Housing Executive and other Housing providers and for residents/tenants throughout West Belfast interested in voluntary Swaps, Transfers or Exchanges.

Housing allocation officers in social housing and advice workers
believe that putting together a data base of properties where residents are interested in moving would help families identify areas/premises that would suit their individual or family needs better.

Many families and individuals look for exchanges to take them
back into the communities they grew up in, or perhaps they need to get a bit nearer to family or to facilities such as children’s schools, shops or transport points etc.

Some find living alone in a big 3 or 4-bedroom house is too
expensive to heat and too difficult to maintain. Other tenants/residents for health reasons would prefer smaller accommodation or a bungalow; some tenants with a disability seek ground floor accommodation.

People should leave their bins out by 7am. If it is not collected, continue to leave them out for collection over each weekend.

All other collections over the holiday period are unaffected and will be collected on the normal collection day.

Recycling Centres
All recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Our beautiful Belfast Hills are being filmed! This means that between 6am and 6pm from Sunday 19th to Wednesday 22nd November you can expect traffic delays and temporary closures on the following roads:
• Wheeler's Road
• Tornaroy Road
• Tornagrough Road
• Rushey Hill Road
• This may also spill over onto the Upper Springfield and Divis Roads & Hannahstown Hill
There will be minimal disruption and traffic should be able to get through but you may be delayed during filming times. If possible please use alternative routes or leave extra time for any travel on those dates.
