Yogis to round up our Flowers Theme I'm finishing with the humble dandelion!
This hardy happy little flower begins as the sun, transforms into the moon then spreads its stars as wishes all around.
A wonderful example of the cycles of nature 🥰.

OK so technically not a flower, but trees are plants so I'm putting it in our yoga flowers theme 😍

We can learn so much from trees - steadiness, calm earthiness and the ability to bend without breaking... they are awesome.

'May I live like the Lotus - at home in muddy waters'

Focusing on the beautiful Lotus Flower... rooted in the mud but with the ability to push upwards towards the light and blossom into the most wonderful flower.
A symbol of beauty and peace.
This seated balance is hippy and its one of my favourites. We'll be using mudra aswell to lift all that is beautiful in our lives upwards towards the light.

And just like that....Monday classes are back!

The idea for the theme for the next few weeks was given to me by my wonderful travel companion Elizabeth - and it is flowers 💐.

I saw some truly breathtaking plants in Kerala. Every one worthy of its own yoga class...
We will kick off this beautiful theme with the amazing Bird of Paradise. The one pictured below is the Shining variety. Utterly gorgeous.
The yoga pose of the same name is a challenging conversation with balance, strength and flexibility. But as always we'll break it down into manageable chunks and take the variation that best suits us. No stress. ❤️

Classes resume tomorrow Thursdayers - I've missed you! But not missed this weather 🫣...
In India I felt a real sense of presence. My body and mind were in the same place...so we'll be tapping into being completely present in our session tomorrow.

So next week it's the last Monday classes for 2 weeks. As some of you know I'm going adventuring in India on Thursday on retreat!

So on Monday I wanted to finish our shapes theme with the spiral. Expressed so much in nature, from the shell of a conch to the swirl of the Milky Way. Life is a spiral. Its not a straight road from A to B. There are so many twists and turns as we more along our path...
So a dreamy, twisty turny flow awaits you 🥰.

Do you fit into societies boxes or prefer to live outside the boundaries of its edges?....
With this in mind we are looking at the square next week in our geometry of yoga theme.

The square, with its 4 equal sides represents stability, grounding and solid foundations. There is also a yoga pose called Square. It's Sanskrit name is Agnistambhasana. Sometimes called firelog. It's a juicy conversation with the hips and one of my favourite poses. 😍

So be there or be square 🤩

Triangles, same as circles can hold spiritual significance and meaning. I resonate most with the idea of the sides connecting and representing the mind, body and soul from some yoga traditions ❤️.
We make lots of triangular shapes as we practice....we'll be working through some in a flow.

Hey yogis 👋

I thought we'd start a new theme next week based around the wonderful shapes our brilliant bodies can make. Starting with circles 🔵 ....
So circles symbolise wholeness, unity & harmony and are seen in many cultures to embody spiritual and contemplative significance.
We make loads of circular shapes in yoga! So we'll explore some of these.
In Sanskrit the word Mandala can mean circle or centre (see one of my many mandalas below). So we'll be taking a mandala practice, where we move in a circular motion around our mats 😍.
