What's this chapter of your life called?
I know that this quote may seem a little “out there” and hippy but bare with me whilst I unravel myself from my morning tree hug to explain why this is actually true. 🌴😂
Our conscious minds work super hard and super fast but don’t have the capacity to take on all the millions of bits of information we are actually experiencing at any given point (like the car that just drove past, or the dog barking across the street, twilight setting in etc etc) that’s all information our subconscious registers. Our conscious minds reduces the information we consciously receive down to around 7 +/- bits … and it will vary depending on what we deem to be important in our life. So an example of this would be if you’ve decided to buy a new car and you start to see that model everywhere. Or for me when I was pregnant I saw babies and pregnant women everywhere (I don’t even know the last time I saw a pregnant woman now) but at the time this was important information and I was consciously looking out for it. Now take that theory and adapt it to when you go through a hard time in your life - and everyday you find reasons and s**t that has gone slightly wrong but to you it’s just a massive head and ball ache on an already difficult time and just reinforces your theory of “why does stuff always happen to me”. “Why is my life so s**t”. You are consciously on the mental mindset looking for it. BUT take that same theory and consistently remind yourself to look for the small wins - the 5p you found on the floor or your kid taking their plate to the sink after dinner. Or that report that was easier to finish than you thought. Or that girl/guy who caught your eye this morning… and allow yourself to enjoy these moments …. The more you will notice the good the more it will come. It’s time to consciously notice where your head is at and what you’re thinking about. However, if you have a habit or a block thats stopping you from making this shift and your struggling to get past it - life coaching can help.
