The weather has held, despite rain over night and a weather warning for a beautiful morning in the bay. 3 giant paddle boards and a couple of kayaks have left the shore for exploration!
Caving and climbing on the menu this afternoon, followed by a silent disco 🕺
We’re back in Cornwall, for our Y12 community building trip. It’s so nice to meet and spend time with our new cohort of students, as they embark on their journey with us. We are visiting the Eden Project today and have plenty of activities planned at Porthpean Outdoor.
Wishing all Y11 the very best today on GCSE results day. We look forward to speaking with many of you today for enrolment.
Just wanted to congratulate all students that are receiving A level results today. We’re really proud of our Chesterton students for the hard work they have put in. It’s been an incredible two years and we’ve seen our first cohort grow into well rounded young adults 👏👏👏
For the last day of our enrichment week, we’re having a community lunch. Each student has produced a dish based on their culture or interest and contributed it to our meal. We have such a range of foods produced from across the culinary world food 🍲 🥘 🍱
As part of our enrichment week, students took part in the ‘paper clip challenge’. Where they started with a paper clip and traded up items with local businesses in Cambridge. Students brought bag a wide range of items, totalling £262 of shelf value. The point of the task was to practice enterprise skills covered in the previous days sessions - helping to make students future ready.
Our students took part in day 1 of 2 enterprise bootcamps today, working with NXG enterprise and South Cambs District Council to create business proposals that can receive funding and be realised in the town centre later in the year.
On Monday, students made the pilgrimage from Knapwell to Cambridge. Mr Reed certainly enjoyed himself!
Safari? Completed it! 👊 We’ve seen the big 5 and some. We were out very early and were rewarded for our efforts. Seeing a leopard in a tree; lioness with her cub; elephants; cheetahs; loads of lions; and hippos. 🦁 🐆 🐘 🐃 🦏
Well… our first game drive was fairly impressive. Ticked off 3 of the Big 5 (Rhino, Buffalo, and the King of the Jungle). We’ll be back out tomorrow early doors for more searching. 🦓🐆🐘🦁
sixth formers were on hand to help coordinate our school’s mock election 🗳️ by preparing students for voting by asking for 🪪 id.
Back in the UK, our students are taking part in some more social action. Some have had their eyes opened on their litter pick and others have bern raising money through a bake sale in school.
We’re at the district sports games today, plus teaching a few more lessons.
We planted acacia seed balls at Nyathuna Primary and Nakuru Children’s Project land, to help re-green Kenya. 4000 seed balls down, 8000 to go! NCP are taking more and our partners have a farm so we have some locations to plant.
Day 3 in school has started as we left off! This is the last day in the school as we are at a district sports day tomorrow.
We had a fairly impressive stroll down to the bottom of Thomson Falls.
We are on a break day from the primary school today, we’re visiting Thompson Falls but our first stop was the equator, for a science experiment.
We finished our day at school today with a trek to see the Menegai crater.
Our second in schools has started so well!
Our first day in school has started very well!
First stop, after a hearty breakfast, was the Giraffe sanctuary. The sanctuary has a successful breed and release programme. Students fed the giraffes but were not allowed to kiss this time!
Kenya bound! 🇰🇪 ✈️
Welcome to our new cohort at Chesterton Sixth Form- offer holder day 2024
What a wonderful bunch of Y13 we have. From Monday they go on study leave. Where has the last 2 years gone! Wishing everyone all the best with their upcoming exams
It was so nice to welcome so many students and families to Chesterton yesterday for our offer holder meet and greet. Thanks also for the coffee . We’re already looking forward to seeing you again in June for our offer holder day
Exciting stuff at Chesterton Sixth Form. Our Giraffe has been spotted in John Lewis, Cambridge. Find us on the ground floor! 🦒
Our students thoroughly enjoyed attending a lecture on big data and statistics, by Sir David Spiegelhalter, at Huge thank you to the for organising and inviting us.
Last week some Y13 students supported our partner NHS Mental Health Support Team by leading interviews with potential candidates. The students conducted themselves very professionally and made a significant contribution to MHST recruitment. Today they received their certificates and feedback about the process.
On Monday we took part in the Rotary Inter-school Peace debate at the Leys. Our students performed so well, having only put their team together at the beginning of the term.
