Beautiful crossbreed Rhia is a gentle and wise girl, who lives with a fellow Whole Energy Body Balance Practitioner Katy Conway from Time for Pooch Canine Massage in Leicestershire.

When Katy and I met up we worked with each others' dogs. (Yes even on a day off we still enjoy helping dogs through WEBB!)

Lovely Rhia is an elderly lady and suffers with arthritis but was quite happy to let me work with her to ease any tension.

It wasn't long before she was stretched out, very relaxed and soaking up the therapy.

Bredon Dog Show Monday August 5th, from 6 pm til 8 pm

DOGS ARE AFFECTED BY OUR EMOTIONS...
Some very wise words here, backed up by research, from my WEBB Practitioner friend and colleague Katy Conway.
Dogs pick up a lot of our 'emotional stuff' and often, we don't even realise it.

🐕People often ask me "What is the best thing I can do for my dog?" and the answer is simple. Look after yourself and your emotions.

😢As human owners we often share a special bond with our dogs and it is through this bond that dogs pick up on our emotions. Its far more than just offering us comfort when we are sad, dogs actually take on board owner emotions and their behaviour will change accordingly.

😨If you are of an anxious nature and needing reassurance there's a fair chance your dog will be too, if you're fearful your dog will mirror that.

🤗So do whatever it takes to balance your emotions: exercise, meditate, chat to a friend or therapist, sleep. It might not be easy or comfortable but find what works for you and your dog will thank you for it.

What a lucky girl I am. Another pretty flower arrived on Friday, a surprise gift from the grateful mum of lovely Collie Fluffy, pictured..
Fluffy is a 10-year-old regular who sees me monthly to ease the tension that builds up in her shoulders and thorax due to osteoarthritis and a possible old injury.
A blooming lovely beginning to the Bank Holiday weekend.

CALLIE THE LURCHER LEARNS TO TRUST AND RELAX

Meet Callie, a beautiful 4-year-old lurcher who was rehomed through the Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue.
Callie can be a fearful girl when meeting new people and regularly reacted when seeing other dogs.
Her first Whole Energy Body Balance massage showed she was holding a lot of tension throughout her body. She remained standing for the first session and was scared of me touching her very sore lumbar - so, respecting her feelings - I didn't! As a precaution, Callie was muzzled for her initial sessions but it soon became clear we'd built up enough trust to remove it.
I've been working with Callie, at her pace and we've released a lot of the tension. She now settles straight down for a session, lets me work deeply on her lumbar and sacrum and relaxes with her eyes closed.
Her mum Alison says: "Callie always sleeps immediately after her WEBB session. Since having WEBB she has become less reactive with local dogs, less fearful and we've noticed she's becoming more independent in herself but more loving towards us."

What a wonderful surprise gift from the "mum" of regular A Calmer Canine client Ferdie, the 14,-year-old gentle, wise giant of a Weimaraner who I see regularly for spinal issues, arthritis and neuropathy.

Canine therapist pens book to address anxiety in dogs In efforts to raise awareness for anxiety in dogs, a canine massage therapist has authored a book written from a dog's perspective.

FORMER KOREAN 'MEAT DOG' REN IS RESPONDING WELL TO WHOLE ENERGY BODY BALANCE MASSAGE.

FORMER KOREAN 'MEAT DOG' IS LEARNING TO TRUST

When a dog has an horrific start to life through abuse, neglect or cruelty, it may be affected by that trauma, to a lesser or greater degree, forever.
Ren, pictured, is now aged 7-and-a-half but was bred as a South Korean 'meat dog.' For the first 12 months of her life she lived in a cage with nothing but the wire beneath her paws. She saw, heard, sensed and smelt other dog souls being savagely killed for the meat trade.* She was rescued and brought to the UK but was overwhelmed and shut down.
Today she lives in Cheltenham with loving owner Cat. Ren is still fearful and hyper-vigilant.

Ren is relaxing into her Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB) sessions as I gently build up trust and connection with her. She has impressed her mum by letting me massage her for 30 - 40 minutes and returning to me for more after little breaks. She's even relaxed enough to lie down. Her little body is holding a lot of tension and WEBB will help ease it.
Cat, a hairdresser, says: "Clients have already noticed that Ren seems a bit braver and has been going up to them rather than shying away."

Ren is a sweet little girl who shows no aggression, despite her inhumane treatment. It's humbling to work with Ren, a dog who endured so much at the hands of humans, yet still retains the capacity to trust again.

*In January this year, the South Korean government passed a law banning the sale and production of dog meat - but the law won't be enforced until 2027, giving dog farmers a three-year grace period.

She's aged about 2, but is fearful of unexpected noises and hid in her crate for the first week in her new home. She was also scared of going in the garden.
Joy, who was living in her 'fight or flight mode' has now had three sessions of Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB).
After two sessions her owner Alison said: "There's been a definite improvement in Joy's behaviour. She's calmer, doing things at a slower pace and is more relaxed in the garden. We're seeing a new and more adventurous side to her, she is exploring more and played with a toy for the first time. She's growing in confidence and has been pawing at us and coming up to sniff our dinners at meal-times. We'd had her three months and this has happened in the past four weeks since having her massages."
