In celebration of our friends and long-time beer suppliers winning “National Cider & Perry Pub of the Year”, we’re hosting a very special collab and exclusive tasting experience, pairing six award-winning ciders specially selected by Lisa & Dale, served alongside Jay’s six expertly curated seasonal plates.
Dale will be talking us through all things cider - from cultivation and history to similarities with wine production and tasting profiles, to show us why a well-crafted cider can hold it’s own as an expertly paired accompaniment to a meal.

As much as we love our summer produce, there’s something about the food we serve around the winter holidays that wraps you in comfort and nostalgia. Each bite is like a little trip down memory lane, bringing back memories of past holidays spent with friends and family…. Or in Liam’s case, it’s a reminder of the time he shoved a peanut up his nose and spent his Christmas Eve in the Barnsley A&E.
It’s safe to say you will never find a peanut on our festive menu, but you will find a few favourites that only make their comeback this time of year.

Hard to believe we are just two months from December, a month that’s probably caught us out every single year since we opened as we fly from summer to autumn and next thing you know we’re swapping laogan ma for cranberry sauce.
Instead of our usual November scramble we’ve got ahead of the game this year and our December menus are now available to preview on our web site - including our lunch offer, a la carte and party packages for lunch reservations… I’m sure there will be a few tweaks and changes and the one ingredient we’ve based the entire menus around wont be in stock come December, but we’ve worked pretty hard to get it right the first time. We’ll drop it on the socials soon but for now, there’s a special page on the website where you’ll find all the info you need about December.
Our diary is now officially open for bookings with our current hours. We will be open Monday & Tuesday lunch the week of Christmas and as always closed xmas day & boxing day, reopening for dinner on 27th.

A trip to the field with Growing at Field28 and our sister venue, twenty eight.
Last week, we invited a select group of press and content creators to join us in exploring the Daresbury farm, Growing at Field 28, one of our main produce suppliers.
The afternoon consisted of an informative tour around the growing fields to learn all about the team’s heritage veg and pesticide/biocide-free speciality leaf, all of which we use daily in our regular, seasonally changing menus. With brilliant canapés from Aiden Byrne and homemade cordials on the side, our guests were able to learn and taste as they went.
To finish, guests were invited to sit and sample a selection of sharing plates by Chef Jay Tanner and see how our work with the farm helps to create a micro-seasonal, low-waste menu. With a bit of luck, the rain also held off too… Cheers to all that joined us!
Growing at Field28 is where it all begins, with the majority of our menu being made up of fresh produce from the farm.
Whilst our á la carte menu may change every 4-6 weeks, there are likely to be some little changes throughout the week according to the daily harvest.

Each dish is a true labor of love, and because of the time and care we put into preparing this experience, reservations are now required for the tasting menu.

As always we are keeping busy and we have quite a few things on the go at the moment with different deals, menus and events across the next few weeks. Here’s the recap on what’s happening at Chef’s Table :
First up, for the next few weeks we are offering 20% off our a la carte menu on Wednesday-Sunday during lunch hours. You don’t need to book this offer in advance as it only applies to the a la carte menu, so if you come in and fancy a bit more variety or trying something new from this menu you can enjoy a little deal. Don’t worry our lunch offer isn’t going anywhere and we still have our lunch offer of “Two Courses for £30, Three Courses for £35” available as always.
Second, we are running our 8 course tasting menu for £80 or 10 course for £100, available Monday-Friday from 6pm. It’s been three months since joined the team and a very busy three months it has been, with plenty of development (and a few antics) going on behind the scenes.
The time has come to share what we’ve been up to, and next Tuesday we will host a special tasting evening at 7pm. The six course menu is a culinary dialogue, with Liam and Aiden each taking the helm for three alternating courses alongside a fabulous selection of classic wine pairings.

We opened in 2014 in the heart of historic Chester as small, independent restaurant with a passion for microseasonal produce and local growing.
