The KAT team were out in full force across Colchester city centre, this weekend, for the first-ever Kids in the City event, in support of the NSPCC and their Childhood Day 2023.

An awesome couple of days of event management, and fundraising, whilst helping to deliver fantastic career-based activity sessions to children – from fun retail activities at Fenwick, a Hospital Escape Room activity with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, a sneak-peek Vault Tour at Metro Bank UK, high-energy footie practice in Culver Square with Stanway Pegasus FC, arty Mosaic Mayhem at Firstsite Colchester serving parents refreshing drinks at Lion Walk Shopping Centre's Vacay at The Courtyard and the chance to explore a real-life fire engine with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. – I think we had almost as much fun and the kids and their parents!

Wow, what a weekend of fun we had with you all… Kids – you’re a bunch of ABSOLUTE SUPERSTARS! We hope you enjoyed trying out grown-up ‘work’ life for a little while.

Today’s the day! The kids will be taking over the city from 10am-4pm at locations across Colchester for the first-ever Kids in the City event…

Many of our activities are fully filled, but there are still some spaces available – so get booking now at www.kidsinthecity.org.uk to avoid disappointment! All activities are FREE to join in on.

Remember that there’s no need to book for our Stanway Pegasus sessions in Culver Square, Mosaic Madness at Firstsite Colchester, or to visit Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’ fire engines and staff in Lion Walk Shopping Centre (Culver Street East). East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust are also hosting ‘drop in’ sessions from 12-1pm and 3-4pm for you to come and chat to the team.

Very excited to announce we’ll be joined by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service in Lion Walk Shopping Centre (Culver Street East entrance) on both Saturday and Sunday; no need to book, simply pop along for a chance to meet some real-life firefighters and even take a peek inside a fire engine!

Please note that, of course, if there is an emergency, the team will be called away – but they plan to be with us from 10am both days. Do get in touch with our team if you have any questions.
