3CHALLENGES 3CHARITIES JUNE2024

Every year at Arise Fitness we have a big challenge to raise awareness and funds for incredible charities throughout our local community and also some close to our hearts. And this year is no different however it’s bigger than ever.

3 challenges, 3 charities, Over one month. June 2024.

Thanks to charities in the UK there is a difference to millions of lives here and around the world. Life is not smooth sailing with its many ups and downs. We never truly know what is around the corner but we do all benefit from support of local charity in some way or form.

The three charities this year are:
Sands (Saving babies’ lives. Supporting bereaved families.)
Air Ambulance Northern Ireland
Ambassadors Football

Three unbelievable charities that have played apart in so many peoples lives.

We don’t ask you to take part in every single part of the charity challenges but you are more than welcome to come and join us as a community to take part in one, two or even a small part of the challenges.

To help us raise awareness and help make a difference in our community and to also have some fun, connect with others, smile, laugh and have a good old time ( and possibly a good old sweat too 😅😬, let’s also hope for sunshine! )

Rest is necessary! 🙌🏼

Listening to our bodies and knowing when it needs rest or some well needed tlc is incredibly vital for our mental, physical and emotional health.

Life can sometimes get a little carried away and we lose that mind and body connection along the way. We can simply just wake up and repeat just moving but not really present with life and those around us.

Be sure that this week you listen to your body. Maybe book in for that massage you have been meaning too, take some time to read, learn and grow. Get that extra 1hr of sleep or have a nap. Have an extra glass of water, relax in a bath, hit the sauna, ice bath. Get yourself out in nature, move in a way you love, check in and spend time with people who bring you joy and bring out the best in you. Rest looks different for us all so find what works for you and know whatever that is it’s completely ok.

All of these things are just as important as the busyness in your life.

I challenge you to hit pause right now as you read this and ask yourself how am I? What do I need this week, this month or in this season of my life?

By listening and dropping into your body it will thank you.

DRIFT Massage

This blissful treatment is also known as therapeutic or holistic massage, we use this style of therapy for its immense physical benefits, but also as a means of gently supporting parasympathetic stimulation, calming the nervous system.

The Warmth massage.

As the name suggests, this involves using heated basalt stones during the treatment. This massage will have your mind unwinding and your muscles melting.

Basalt stones are smooth and retain heat exceptionally well to allow the stones to warm and ease your muscles which can also allow deeper pressure to be applied during your massage.

This blissful treatment helps calm the nervous system allowing you to drift into a state of pure ease you might even drift off to dream land with this one.

Be sure to take a moment and embrace the season. We as humans get so used to moving fast, running through the seasons of our lives with our eyes on the road ahead. We forget to stop for a moment and just notice what is in front of us, the conversations, the laughs, the joy, the very small ordinary things, the present moment.

So this season be sure to slow down, to not think of what is next for 2024 but to be deeply present with your friends, your family, your children. Embracing and being grateful for the simple ordinary things and living life in the moment, not too fast and not looking too far ahead.

The greatest gift we can give to those we love is time spent, and time is precious spend it well this season 🎄

Find Your Inner Zen 💧

Calm Your Body and Mind and totally relax in the Infrared Sauna Blanket.

Infrared panels slowly warms your body while you’re cocooned and zipped up in a blanket (similar feel to a weighted blanket). The heat can be altered to suit your needs for a deep sweat and detoxification.

Kids Christmas Workshops 🎄

Very excited to be running two workshops for Primary kids on the build up to Christmas.

The workshop is designed to explore movement with yoga, balance, co ordination & play alongside craft and breath-work. With an emphasis on teaching one to be mindful and attentive to both body and mind and to those around us. All whilst having fun of course 🤸🏼‍♀️

Being physically fit is great for your health as we grow through different stages of life but understanding our mind and the tools that we can use to help us throughout life’s journey is of equal importance. It is important for children and adults alike to understand how to listen to their body, to understand the mechanics of how our bodies actually work both physically and psychologically.

We help the mind, we help the body and vice Versa. By teaching kids all these things we are giving them valuable tools for their toolbox of life.

Happy International Yoga day! 🧘🏼‍♀️

Yoga isn’t the Instagramable pose or the perfect downward facing dog in fact far from. We learn a lot about ourselves when we practice yoga both physically and mentally. Connecting the mind to the sensations within ourselves and our bodies.

One thing yoga is for me is listening, stilling the mind to let the body tell a story. Your tight hips from the hikes with friends, that sweaty workout, your stiff quads from the first 10k you ran, even the tense shoulders from the stressful or busy week or the tight muscles from playing with your children. We can find joy by listening to the story of our bodies and simply changing the narrative.

Coming to your mat, is your time to reconnect to yourself and to acknowledge and accept wherever you find yourself on that given day. Some days I feel like a supernova and other days not so much. I accept those days both and don’t annoy myself over it.

We practice what we do on the mat, so that we can handle the frantic world outside the door. The busy schedules, the parenting and partners, the job, the sport, the house, the list is endless. But to manage what is outside the room we do yoga, to unravel all the stresses and tension that the world can hold on us. That we can respond rather than react. And equally be able to move freely for all the activities we wish to do.

Yoga has the power to still the mind, find ease in the physical body and to find the clam within.

If you have never tried yoga I encourage you to try a class today, in person or Jump on YouTube. Try some breath-work, a guided meditation or go wild and try all three! You might be surprised at what you uncover and how good you feel after 😉

Did you know this week is Mental Health Awareness Week 🧠

With the focus for this year being on anxiety and how it impacts all of us at some point in our life.

On Monday I led a few sessions with the employees of Kingspan. I always have such an amazing time going in to work with them. And I always leave feeling extraordinarily fulfilled.

Having conversation around our mental health can be hard and normalising it even harder, as it has been ingrained on us to simply just keep going, keep pushing. We get so busy living that we forget to slow down and check in with ourselves.

Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all and a natural response from our bodies to this crazy world we live in. Knowing what tiggers us individually and understanding not only our own emotions but the sensations within the body is the start to making friends with the feelings of anxiety and learning to manage and understand it better.

We can’t get rid of our emotions becuase they make us human, the light and the dark. However we can learn to use tools that throw us a little rope to hold on too, to help re-regulate the nervous system so that when we feel those moments of complete overwhelm or panic and stress that we can use these tools at any time to manage and bring ourselves back under control. To be in our bodies, present and connected, to find the calm within our storm.

On Monday we used one breathing technique known as Anulom Vilom or alternate nasal breathing. Using this type of breathing is a simple yet powerful technique that settles and balances the mind, body, and emotions. You can use it to quiet your mind and it is particularly helpful to ease racing thoughts if you are experiencing anxiety, stress, or having trouble falling asleep.

The season has changed for me and with that comes a REBRAND.

I started PressurePoint with the desire to learn about how the body moved and worked (and I’m still learning.. there is a lot, life long). But from setting out on that one passion it now has become so much more. I have learnt a lot from working one to one with clients, connecting with other people in other professions and from continuing my own learning and passions which I am extraordinarily grateful for.

Having completed my Hot Yoga Teacher Training in November, my Kids&Teen Yoga a few months prior and some more lined up for 2023 (we only start to age when we stop learning and investing in ourselves right?🤓) I wanted to rebrand PressurePoint into something that would embody everything I want to do going forward and everything I am passionate about. From sports and holistic massage to yoga, movement, breath work and wellness tools.

All of these things are simply tools that you can use to compliment your well-being and overall health, which will help you be mindful of both your physical self and your mental self. Reconnecting to your body, breath and mind.

Our bodies&minds are incredible pieces of art, be curious about them, challenge them but equally look after them! We do only get one 🙌🏼

CONNECTION.

Tuesday night was first sold out .light1111 event. It was a lovely evening centred around connection with yourself. We always think about connection involving other people and we often forget to connect in with ourselves and ask ourselves how are we feeling, what is our own wishes and aspirations. We get so busy working, being parents, partners, friends, colleagues and doing what they all need us to do that we tend to forget about ourselves and what we need.

We spent Tuesday evening doing some gentle yoga to connect in with our body, mind and breath. Focusing on only yourself. Then from did a workshop on vision boards, on what you would want if nothing was unattainable. Sarah finished the evening with the relaxing and incredible sound bowls which made you feel like you where on a different planet!

Taking this time to connect with ourselves and pause allows us to clear space in our usually busy minds so that all the good things can grow and flourish instead.

Take a moment out today just for you! Read a book, go for a walk alone, listen and dance to you favourite song, book a spa day, go to the gym, do something that is simply just time for yourself.

Come join us at Arise Fitness for our Easter Healthy Bodies and Happy Minds Wellness Day! It is going to be lots of fun but also informative for all kids of Primary Age.

The day will consist of some exercise, mindful crafts and finishing the day doing some yoga, relaxation and breathing techniques. All tools to help us check in with our bodies and minds. Growing up isn’t easy especially with social media these days therefore teaching kids ways to deal with the stresses of life at an early age can really help as they journey through life as a child and as an adult.

Something exciting ✨✨

Very excited to be a part of White Lights first event. Sarah is full of passion for all things wellness and when she asked if I would like to take part in her first event I jumped at the opportunity.

I will be joining Sarah and Julie on Tuesday 28th March at the Corner House Derrymacash. 7pm - 10pm for three amazing hours of focusing on just yourself as you are.

The evening will consist of some light yoga to reconnect and bring balance to our body, breath and mind. And don’t be worrying about perhaps never having done yoga before. Yoga isn’t about the perfect looking posture it’s about what it feels for you, acknowledging and respecting your self and your body. Working with our bodies own limits and using the breath to let go.

Julie will then do a workshop on vision boards. Again this workshop is for complete beginners. Julie will explain how they work and help you make your own.

And finally Sarah will be finishing the evening with some incredible sound bowls. They are super relaxing and can stimulate calm brain waves. They can aid your mental health and boost your overall well being. It really is an evening not to be missed. Tickets remaining are limited.

Wellness Week One ✨

What a week with these little troopers. We did a lot in three days.

From movement, gym floor obstacles, arts & crafts, story time, some cake decorating, stretching and breathing. Centred around the whole well-being.

And everything we did each little ones own uniqueness showed through. Showing how important it is to embrace our differences and just to always be ourselves 🙌🏼

RELAX • RECHARGE

We can all feel the impacts of the daily grind. From training hard, work stresses, running after your kids, sickness, sport, growing a brand new little human and simply just stress. Your mood, stress levels, what you are putting into your body and even your choices you are making throughout your day, surprisingly can affect your body equally as much as training hard in a gym.

Even if you aren’t booking in for a massage this week or next, connect in with yourself, connect your mind and your body. Think about how your body feels and take note. Listen to it, respect it and move your body in some from of way. Even treat yourself to some you time. Do something you love, something for you. Even if that something is small and simple. Find what relaxes and refuels you and go do that this week 🙌🏼
