🎨🖌️The Magic of Art with Our Little Ones🎨🖌️
Art has such a therapeutic value for both children and adults, it can be a beautiful thing to do together—calming but yet fun! 🌈✨ Colour can make us feel happy just in itself, but imagine dipping your brush into gorgeous paint pots and sweeping a shape across the page. It can lead to mindfulness and relaxation too🧘♀️🧘♂️
Let's embrace the joy of creating together, letting our imaginations run wild and our stress melt away. Whether it's painting, drawing, or crafting, these moments not only brighten our days but also strengthen our bonds. 🖍️👩🎨👨🎨
Here's to more colourful memories and mindful moments with our little artists! 💖👶🎨
🌟Cheer Up the Lonely Day🌟
Hey everyone! Today is a special day – it’s Cheer Up the Lonely Day, a national celebration in the US, and I absolutely love the idea behind it! If you know anyone who is feeling lonely or going through a tough time, surprise them today with a visit, a hug, or organize a get-together. Let’s help get the word out and spread the spirit of friendliness!
Loneliness can be caused by many factors such as health issues, financial troubles, or grief from loss, and it can be very overwhelming. This day serves as a reminder to all of us that everyone needs a little extra love and attention, especially the lonely. A small act of kindness can make a big difference.
Use this day to also express gratitude to anyone who’s ever reached out to you while you were struggling. Their kindness likely made a world of difference to you, just as yours can to someone else today.
Let’s make today bright and cheerful for those who need it the most.
🎉🐱 Happy National Kitten Day! 🐱🎉
Even if these adorable fur babies aren't quite your cup of tea, there's no denying the incredible therapeutic value pets bring into our lives. Both cats and dogs can have a significant impact on our mental health and overall well-being. Here are some amazing benefits they offer:
✨ Reduced stress, anxiety, and depression
✨ Eased loneliness
✨ Encouraged exercise and playfulness
✨ Improved cardiovascular health
✨ Helped children grow up more secure and active
We aren't suggesting everyone should go out and buy a pet, but maybe indulge in some cute kitten videos today!

🌟 Check In with Your Children’s Emotions 🌟
Just as we check in with ourselves and our friends, it's crucial to check in with our children to see how they are feeling. Children and young people can often feel confused about their emotions, or they may be dealing with some kind of life trauma. If left unchecked, these feelings can cause significant harm.
At Relate West Sussex, we offer a dedicated counselling service for children and young people aged 5-18 across West Sussex. Our qualified counsellors provide support in various locations:
- Ages 5-11: Counselling available at our Crawley space
- Ages 11-18: Counselling available in Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, and Chichester
This July and August, we are offering subsidised counselling sessions to support our young people. If you want to learn more or book a session, get in touch with our friendly reception team on 01293 657055.
Let's work together to support the emotional well-being of our children. 💛

We want to introduce some of the people from our charity, starting with Lisa our Centre Manager:
Hi – My name is Lisa and I’m the Centre Manager here at Relate West Sussex. I have worked here for the past four and a half years with an amazing team of staff and counsellors and really believe in the work that we do. In the last year, our team provided counselling for over 1,000 people across the area.
More introductions coming soon! 😊
Thinking of coming to counselling?
This is how it works.
First you will need to call us to book a paid appointment.
On your first appointment which is called an assessment, you will spend approximately 50 minutes with your counsellor who will ask you a few questions. At the end of the session, you will discuss if counselling is the right thing for you. If you both agree then you will be offered regular counselling, the number of counselling sessions you receive will depend on your individual situation.
We don’t want cost to be a barrier, always check with us when you call as we have several ways to help you access free or low-cost counselling.

World Mental Health Day is coming up on October 10th. In the UK around 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year. So, it is important that we raise awareness and continue to reduce the stigma around mental health.
This day is a chance for people to unify around this year’s theme ‘mental health is a human right’.
If you are struggling, there is support available to you.
For more information or to book an appointment,
please call 01293 657055 or email [email protected]
September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month and despite more people willing to discuss mental health, su***de remains a difficult topic to discuss. In the UK, 125 lives are lost every week to su***de, so it’s important that we feel we can open up about this and raise awareness.
Su***de could affect anyone, with women being most likely to feel suicidal thoughts and men being three times more likely to take their own life than women.
At Relate we are not afraid to talk about it.

September is the start of the academic year, with new beginnings for many youngsters.
Changes and transitions can be tricky, but with support from family and friends and a listening ear, all changes are manageable.
Listening without interruption, judgement or to ‘fix’ things helps. Listening without preparing a response in your head is also helpful.
Relate offer a children and young people’s counselling service and have done so for over 20 years
Our counsellors see children and young people aged from 5 to 25.

Some of the lovely, creative tools used by one of our counsellors to help children and young people express feelings and emotions.
Talking is just part of the process and doing an activity alongside a child or young person can help them relax, open up and share what's bothering them.
