This study found that pregnancy changes womens bodies and brains permanently. One of the things they found is that their child’s cells can be found in mothers blood stream even up to 27 years later. They found in one mother, her sons cells in her heart when he was 27. So, actual scientific proof that our children remain in our hearts even when they fly the nest - quite literally 🥰

Y:AMHS was founded in May 2021 in response to the increasingly long waits that children and young people have faced in accessing support and treatment for mental health conditions. During this time, we have worked tirelessly to raise the funds needed to be able to pay for private therapies for local young people and we are so proud of what we have achieved, with the support of YOU, the community, without whom none of this would have been possible. However, we are now in a position where we need to cease to operate and the charity will be closing with immediate effect.

Trustees will be administering the remaining funds in line with Charity Commission regulations that apply to registered charities. As far as permitted, we may look to migrate any funds remaining in YAMHS accounts to another local charity with objectives aligned to our own. However, the inevitable outcome is the closure of Chill Zone and the withdrawal of any future support either through therapeutic support or by way of support, guidance or advice to families of young people with mental ill health.

It simply remains for us to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to who has supported us over the last three years and helped us to for so many local children and young people.

We are excited to be working with Wakehurst to provide a family guided wellness walk this holiday season!

The walk will take us around the beautiful surroundings of Wakehurst Place and offers a chance for parents and young people to take some time out together to relax and unwind. The walk will be guided by 2 volunteers and last for just under an hour.

Places are limited to keep the group small and a maximum of 4 per family are able to sign up.

We are so grateful to have been awarded funding from to run our Chill Zone group for young people into next year!!

The group provides a safe space for children and young people aged 13+ who might otherwise struggle to socialise due to anxiety and other low level mental health issues.
