🌟 Myth vs. Fact 🌟
Myth: Mental health struggles indicate weakness in medical students, risking their career prospects.
Fact: Mental health challenges are prevalent in medical training due to its intensity. Seeking support strengthens resilience and boosts performance. Many medical schools provide confidential counselling and support networks for student well-being.
Don't let myths hinder your well-being. Break the stigma, prioritise your mental health! 💪

In 2024, "Movement: Moving more for our mental health" will be the focus of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Our mental health benefits greatly from physical activity, but a lot of us find it difficult to obtain adequate exercise. From May 13 to 19, this year, join Mental Health Foundation and Better:Gen as we look for opportunities to move throughout our everyday lives.
Worrying about your money and trying to look after your mental health can feel like a vicious cycle. And we know there are plenty of reasons to worry about money at the moment.
Read Blackbullion's research to find out the extent of the impact: https://shorturl.at/ryGJ4
Places like Citizens Advice and StepChange Debt Charity can help you with the money side of things. But an organisation like Student Minds can help to make sure your money worries don't end up making your mental health worse.

Student life can be overwhelming and lead to stress, isolation and societal pressures often faced in silence.
Reach out to each other, student support and societies for activities to build resilience and face challenges with confidence.
You don’t have to be a Star Wars fan to use May 4 to check in on our own mental health “force” – for our well-being as well as for those we care for. Don’t be afraid to seek help to find the Light Side if you’re feeling Dark.
Well it's happening. We're being targeted by spambots. Don't know if we should be flattered or not.
So to be clear, here at Better:Gen, we do not, have not, will not, and never shall, endorse any snake oil seller linking to "miracle cures"
So please let us know if they appear and we'll smite them with the banhammer.
With love.

"Sharing this for anyone else who has experienced this and struggles to cope when it happens….I promise…you are not dying even though it feels that way.
Earlier on and completely out of the blue I had my first full blown panic attack in over 10 years.
My life has been going in such an amazing direction so I am confused to why it happened ….and yes at one point I felt like I was dying, suffocating to the point I wanted to reach for the emergency services as I was on my own at the time, but managed to calm myself down in just under an hour…..just keep telling yourself that you are okay…you’re fine.
It is terrifying and can have an anxiety hangover for hours to even days after….but you will be ok.
One thing I’ve noticed is to keep your temperature at a normal level. I started to get hot and my heart started racing again, thinking I was going to have another panic attack, but it was only because I was overheating as I didn’t realise the heating was on. I was able to calm myself down.…..have a cool drink or a cool cloth over your forehead….but don’t get too cold as that can set you off again too. ( like jittery cold)
Watch something funny to help you focus once you’re more calm….I started freaking out a bit watching Late night with the Devil 😆…not the best of choices when your anxiety has peaked but a bloody good movie 🤓.
This isn’t a pitty party…. I just hope it can help anyone who may need it ❤️🩹"
