We are so excited to have you all at Ladies’ Night 2023 tomorrow! Included below are the event expectations and details of closed areas within the castle:

•Kindly respect and follow the Instructions given by College Officers, External and Student security, and event staff

• Contact a staff member if you have a concern

• Bring ID with you to ensure service at the bar

• Take responsibility for your own wellbeing and make the most of non-alcoholic drinks available

• Care for the building (including its artefacts) and dispose of or recycle any rubbish

•Do not bring any of your own alcohol onto the premises

•Do not smoke on the premises (including ci**rs and e-cigarettes)

•Do not enter any closed areas of the castle including:

Minstrels- Closed Thursday and Friday
Lowe – Closed on Friday
Lower Tunstall – Closed on Friday
Bishops Dining Room – Closed on Friday
The JCR - Closed on Friday

There will be a free taxi service running during Ladies’ Night from 11:00pm to 2:00am, taking you from the Castle to any area in Durham. This service will be running in order to ensure that anyone living out of college gets back safely and does not walk home alone. The committee wants to ensure that Ladies’ Night 2023 is as accessible as possible, so please see below all the accessibility information:

- The Black Stairs toilets (next to the top floor of the Lowe) are gender neutral and open to all.

- There will be live bands, loud music, lighting and smoke machines throughout the castle. If you feel distressed, please speak to one of the area managers who will be able to direct you to a quiet area.

- There will be a welfare officer in the MCR (which will be operating as a designated welfare area). Please ask any member of staff for directions.

- Please be aware of your surroundings- there will be steps and possibly exposed cables around the stages.

Ahead of this evening, please find below the Halfway Hall 2023 Dos & Donts. Guests who do not comply with the following regulations will be asked to leave the event. Please remember that this event is taking place in a Grade 1 listed building – therefore please be respectful. No refund will be given for denial of entry. The Security team or member of staff’s decision is final.

DO:
- Bring ID with you to ensure service at the bar.
- Make the most of the non-alcoholic drinks available.
- Pay attention to College Officers, External and student Security, and the Porters on the day. They are not there to ruin your fun, but to make sure that all health and safety/insurance boxes are ticked to ensure that the event can happen year on year.
- If you have a concern, contact a member of staff.
- ENJOY YOURSELF!

DO NOT:
- Disrespect bar staff, security, porters, the Photo booth attendant or musicians.
- Stand or sit on the windowsills in the Great Hall.
- Stand or sit on the artefacts on the Tunstall Gallery.
- Feel like you need to drink; please keep an eye on how much you are drinking if you choose to do so.
- Bring any of your own alcohol into the event.
- Smoke within the premises, including ci**rs and e-cigarettes – smoking can only take place at the end of the Barbican.
- V**e anywhere within college grounds.
- Create any unnecessary and unwanted mess. Please remember that the clean-up team have to tidy up at the end of the event.
- Be disrespectful to the reptiles and ignore instructions from the area manager

Any individual or group who breaches one of the ‘do not’ criteria will be removed from Halfway Hall 2023 and will not be able to re-enter. College Officers reserve the right to apply disciplinary action.

Please find below the accessibility information for Halfway Hall 2023:

- The toilets in Black stairs are gender-neutral and are open to all.

- There will be live bands, loud music, lighting and smoke machines throughout the castle, specifically in the Great Hall and West Courtyard Café. If you feel distressed please speak to one of the area managers who will be able to direct you to a quiet area.

- The Octagon room will be operating as a functional Welfare room. Please ask any members of staff for directions.

- Please be aware of your surroundings. There will be steps and possibly exposed cables.

- Please be aware there will be reptiles present in the MCR, so please avoid this room if you will find this distressing.

There will be an entirely free taxi service running during Halfway Hall from 10:30 to 2:30, taking you from the Castle to any area in Durham. This is to ensure that anyone living out of college does not walk home alone, ensuring everyone gets home safely! This allows you to head home throughout the night as an individual or group whenever you want to leave without worrying. Please do make use of this service to get home so everyone can have an amazing night and get back safe and sound! Ticket sign up for Halfway Hall 2023 will go live at 5pm this Wednesday, 18th January! The sign up is not in pairs but as individuals, with you needing your name, CIS username, email and wine choice ready so be sure to have this information as you sign up! Dining tickets are £48, and ents tickets are £21! Dining is priority for second years but everyone is encouraged to sign up for ents tickets!
