Following an impressive Pole in qualifying on Saturday morning, Guiseppe De Pasquale claimed victory in Race 1 in the smart EQ fortwo e-cup race series, 0.562s ahead of Filippo Bencivenni in second with Mattia Carlotto taking the final podium position a further 3.723s behind. Early Sunday morning saw a sunny, dry start with a full reverse grid and Matteo Riccardi winning Race 2 by an impressive 1.275s ahead of Flaviano Ferri with Lorenzo Longo claiming 3rd. Finally, Race 3 late Sunday afternoon, saw one of the closest finishes this year – after Gianluca Muriello led the opening laps, he was chased down and passed by the charging duo of Filippo Bencivenni and Guiseppe De Pasquale with Bencivenni claiming victory by only 0.093s ahead of De Pasquale. Join me this weekend in Magione, Italy for the next three rounds of the smart EQ fortwo e-cup championship. Qualifying takes place Saturday at 12.05 CET with Race 1 scheduled 18:15 CET. Sunday brings you Races 2 and 3 scheduled 08:40 CET and 16:40 CET respectively. The weekend will feature a double complete grid reversal and double points in Race 3 – in addition, for the first time in the series, we have a father son challenge with Flaviano on the starting grid his dad Fulvio, a twice smart e-cup champion. A dry and sunny Vallelunga circuit welcomed the third of three smart EQ fortwo e-cup races on Sunday. The Safety Car was deployed on lap 3 following an incident involving Bodellini and Pezzolla - at that time, Longo (R) was leading with Calvagni in 2nd and Carlotto in 3rd. The pack regrouped and, after the Safety Car pulled in, the race restarted on lap 6 resulting is some superb close racing to the flag at the end of lap 7. Less than one second separated the top 3 with Calvagni further demonstrating his dominance this weekend claiming victory, 0.562s ahead of Bencivenni in 2nd and with Carlotto only 2/10ths behind in 3rd. Superb dry and sunny conditions saw De Pasquale maintain his Qualifying dominance by winning the first of the three smart EQ fortwo e-cup races at Vallelunga, Italy this weekend. De Pasquale finished 3/10ths ahead of Longo (R) followed by Casillo four seconds behind – the top three reflecting Friday’s Qualifying performance. The fast, and at times close contact racing, continued this afternoon in Race 2 which had some of the closest competition on track – De Pasquale fighting his way back up from 15th following an early spin to claim an impressive 2nd place just 0.143s behind Clementi with Pezzolla in third. After a long summer break, we not only have three races this weekend, but the first race at this iconic Roman circuit marks the 60th competition of the 100% electric series. No other electric touring championship has ever competed in so many races and we are expecting a crowd of over 20,000 people to attend the circuit, in addition to the tens of thousands of people viewing the races online. Qualifying takes place Friday 8th Sept at 17:15hrs BST. Saturday brings you Race 1 at 9:40hrs BST followed by Race 2 at 17:20hrs BST with Race 3 at 11:00hrs BST on Sunday 10th Sept. We’ve just completed a superb weekend’s racing with the closing three races of the 2022 smart EQ fortwo e-cup Championship at Magione, Italy.
Saturday’s qualifying session saw Gabriele Torelli taking pole, 0.3s ahead of Simone Di Luca ahead of Race 1 that same day where Torelli maintained his dominance, finishing 1.4s ahead of a chasing Francesco Savoia in second.
Sunday (today) had Matteo Ciccaglioni take the win, 0.5s in front of Giuseppe De Pasquale in Race 2 and Mattia Carlotto claiming the win in Race 3, an impressive 3.78s ahead of Marco Mosconi.
It’s been an impressive year of smart motorsport with over 20 cars starting each of the 12 rounds of this 2022 Championship.
My congratulations to Gabriele Torelli and the Autotorino team who claimed the overall Championship win with Leonardo Arduini taking both the Challenger and Junior cup.

A super weekend of smart e-cup action at Imola, Italy saw Francesco Savoia take the win 0.567s ahead of Gabriele Torelli in the first of two dramatic races. This was followed by Francesco Lombardo claiming victory in Race 2 finishing an impressive 2.591s ahead of Filippo Bencivenni.

An early start, in the Italian sun, saw Giuseppe De Pasquale claim victory in the first of today's two races. A dramatic fight to the line had De Pasquale cross the line, only 0.15s ahead of Gabriele Torelli.

The battle for 4th to 8th was equally frantic while Leonardo Arduini focused on chasing down the front runners to finish an impressive 3rd to claim the final podium slot.

A dramatic start to the first race of the weekend that saw Gabriele Torelli take victory 0.486s ahead of Filippo Bencivenni. An accident on lap 2 resulted in the Safety Car being deployed. A further accident behind the Safety Car on lap 3 brought out the red flag with Torelli taking the win.

A tremendous end to the 2021 smart EQ fortwo e-cup series. Francesco Savoia claimed victory (by an impressive 9.656 seconds) in Race 1 followed by a superb win in Race 2. Both victories assuring Savoia and the City Car Bari team of winning the 2021 series.

An emphatic victory for Guiseppe De Pasquale in Round 10 of the smart EQ fortwo e-cup event at Cerverina, Italy finishing an impressive 7.963 seconds ahead of Riccardo Azzoli with Garbriele Torelli in 3rd.

It was a misty grey start to Round 9 of the smart EQ fortwo e-cup at Cervesina, Italy with first race start delayed 50 minutes due to the poor weather. Things soon improved however seeing Francesco Savoia claiming victory 0.55 seconds ahead of a charging Riccardo Azzoli with Gabriele Torelli 2.24 seconds behind in 3rd. Leonardo Colavita and Federico Lamperti touched on the first lap, sending them off into the gravel thus ending their Race 1 challenge.
