The Edinburgh Horror Festival is one of the first of its kind in the UK- most horror festivals focus on one style of performance be it film or theatre, or possible one area of horror such as ghosts. Our goal is to present a varied programme of performances in multiple disciplines and genres- from theatre to comedy, from magic to walking tours, from presenting authors to mediums to ghost hunters to
Edinburgh Horror Festival is a team effort. The acts, the volunteers, the venue staff, everyone together makes it work. But I want to give a specific shout out to these two.
I'm the chair, I do the design work, but without these two the weekend simply would not run. Theresa and Tiana work tirelessly oganising the acts, get ins, volunteers, the box office, the market, running around doing every job imaginable.
By the time the festival begins until the final tear down they're there. They push through whatever adversity comes our way. These two women make the festival happen, entirely voluntarily. Yes, the entire team has a role to play, but without these two nothing could happen or run smoothly.
We've had folk asking if we're going on today after the incident in Cowgate last night. The planned events will be going forward. But we would ask folk to be respectful as some of our team and venue staff are understandably shaken. Our thoughts are with those affected.
Come along to The Banshee Labyrinth today from 3pm for our first Horror Market.
