Basque cheese cake . San Sebastian style . Trying to capture that 'La Vina' flavoured . Come and eat it persuade us to keep it on !
Aquiares Estate , red honey process is so silly. Currently in our second hopper at the café . So silly
Our retail shelves are full with the largest selection of top quality coffees that we've had in a long time. Quality controlled. Ready for you to take home. Or come and share a cup or two and be part of the Custom Lane community. There's a nice exhibition in the gallery, too.
Look at these beautiful flat white cups made by the talented potter .jupiter.ceramics (who also just happens to be one of our talented bakers) 😀 . These cups and more of Marta's pottery are available to buy on our retail shelf .
Here's a nice photo from Todd's trip to La Palma in 2019. They had recently planted Gesha trees in the far at the time. This year we have been delighted to carry this coffee . The very last few bags are available online and on our retail shelf in the café! It's a beautiful coffee .
Starting tonight, 5-10pm are pouring a selection of incredible wines in the cafe, with some tasty bites alongside 🥂🍇🧀
Open 5-10pm tomorrow evening too, and then Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for May and June.
We can’t wait! See you here soon…
Summer , is that you ?
This week Maria Rosa Oidor and a tiny Brazilian Peaberry are heading out to our filter and our espresso coffee subscribers , respectively ✊🏻
Ah man. Have we got a coffee in store for you? Yes we do. In 2019, while traveling in Colombia Todd visited Finca La Palma, Santa Barbara in Antioquia. While on this farm he saw that they had just planted a plot with Gesha coffee trees. Such a beautiful farm, such an incredible coffee varietal aaaand now those trees have reached maturity and have produced their first significant harvest. Without further ado, we'd love to present to you, all the way from Colombia, roasted in Leith - Finca La Palma Geisha!!! ..........
Sometimes with the rarer coffees like Geshas we feel the quality of a given lot can struggle to justify it's price tag , purely in terms of value . We fully believe the one is worth it. We'd love to hear what you think . Please do share this amazing coffee with us 🫶🏻 🌸🍒
This legend is away to Laos for the whole month visiting family and friends , just in case you wonder why you aren't seeing him behind the bar in our cafe. Wish Lae a beautiful trip and us luck , please 😊 ✈️
Welcoming Fazenda Caxambu to our line up. This is currently our Brazilian espresso offering. The pulped natural yellow Catuai is bright and clean with that chocolate rich backbone that we expect of a quality Brazilian flavour profile . This was a very fun farm to visit at the end of 2022. Not only was it meticulously run but it was seemingly done so with ease and a light hearted humour . What a delight .
Torness and a train
Oil on board 50x50
I had a couple bits of stick from incense sticks stuck to it in the second photo but took them off again
Nice Saturday stop . Perfectly made flatwhites and incredible doughnuts . Excitedly anticipating the opening of their new unit 👀.
They are one of our longest standing customers and we appreciate the support as much today as we did at the beginning . Thanks guys 🙏🏻
*CLOSED WEDNESDAY*
This Wednesday the 31st (ie tomorrow) Custom Lane and our café/bakery will be closed for a private event. Please pop in today for supplies to avoid disappointment ! Business as usual from Thursday.
That first shot is getting a bit Stanley Kubrick, ay?
Peace and love ✌🏼🍑
Nice chill weekend vibes today . And it's starting to feel brighter already 😊🧡
We like colourful coffees . Drinking our Kenyan Kii at home this morning. Our tasting notes on this coffee are blackcurrant, cherry, and lime. It delivers that and also has a minty fresh finish and a slightly creamy body . So fruity and a bit herbal . I love the complexity of the flavour. If you haven't had one of our coffees in a while I'd recommend grabbing a bag. We are waiting for some new coffees to come into the roastery, it's a quiet time of year for new arrivals at the best of times .. but the line up we have right now is well tried and tested and mostly tasting at their absolute best if you ask me 🫶🏼
We will have our retail shelves very well stocked in Leith right up until we close at the end of day on Christmas eve . Closing a bit early at 2:00pm . Reopen on 27th - 31st 10-16:00 apart from Saturday 30th which is 9:00-5:00 and close early again at 14:00 on the 31st. Back in the new year from the 3rd and back to normal! Our new packaging is 100% biodegradable as well as being practical and resealable with valves . The coffee inside is probably our best line up yet of fruit forward single origin specialty , always 100% arabica ..... Bought from farms and coops we believe in and appreciate their methods and ethos. Ideal for last minute presents ? We wish you a peaceful and joyful couple of weeks from the whole team at W&J 🧡 x
