ICYMI, we’re super chuffed to be hosting the final (and Edinburgh heat) if the Zero Waste Latte Art Throwdown hosted by 🥛☕️

I’m told that tickets have already sold out which I suppose kind of makes this post a bit uninteresting for most of you, but if you’ve got a ticket then we can’t wait to see you there on the 30th November at 6:30pm.

Such a pleasure to be given the opportunity to be involved with such a great event, and catching up with the coffee community in Scotland is something we will never tire of. 💛

28/10/2023

We’re open from 8am at Melville Place on the weekends (and all week), so jump down soon if you’re an early bird and let us wake you up. 🐦

Delighted to have Primavera Sisterhood back on our website. 👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏻

This is a fully traceable blend from farmers in the much lauded (and hard to spell) Huehuetenango. Primavera Sisterhood is an all-women produced coffee created to celebrate the efforts of women who produce coffee in the region.

The role of women in the coffee value chain continues to evolve and they earn more recognition with each year that passes, but in coffee gender equity is still a challenge because of the long-standing dominance of men at certain points of the value chain.

We feel immensely fortunate and proud to have fantastic women in leadership roles across Cairngorm which includes the roaster of your coffee, manager of the roastery which involves all bagging and logistics, and the operations of our shops. Simply put, we couldn’t do it without them! 😊

Having the opportunity to share this coffee is something we feel really excited about. When we purchased Primavera Sisterhood, a portion of the price goes back to the producer as a premium for their efforts as female coffee growers - something that puts a great big smile on our face.

Of course, it tastes great too with a lovely red apple acidity, balanced out by chocolate and hazelnut notes and a sweet lingering toffee aftertaste.

Ever wondered how long we tend to rest our coffee? Unsure what resting means? Does it differ for filter and espresso, or light and dark roasts?

Wonder no more by clicking the link in our bio and reading out latest blog.

How long do you rest your coffee for optimum results?

Fantastic evening yesterday with and hearing all about some of the many inspiring producers in Honduras creating wonderful coffees.

On the table we had some exciting varietals that are new to Honduras like SL-28, and even a Gesha from Benjamins’ own farm, La Salsa.

Thank you to all that came down to join us and thanks to for making it such a special event.

Final call for this evenings public cupping with and - both pictured on a recent trip to some of the Honduran farms that San Vicente work with.

No need to RSVP, just pop by Melville Place this evening at 6pm and try some fantastic coffees from the producer and importers themselves.

This Wednesday we host two heroes of the game…

of Finca La Salsa (COE Honduras ‘22) and San Vicente. He has worked with countless fantastic coffee roasters stateside (Onyx, Heart, B&W to name a few) and inspired quality in Honduras as a whole.

Matt Langdon, UK Account Manager + BD not to mention 2016 English Aeropress Champion.

has been a friend of ours for some time now, providing us with plenty of advice and the tools to navigate the coffee sourcing world. In that time he has connected us with Benjamin and San Vicente we have been lucky to source some of our favourite coffees with them both - Androz being a real favourite in recent years.

We’d love to welcome you down to the West End to cup some of their great coffees with us from 6pm. It’s sure to be insightful!

📣 So, so excited to announce that we’re running another public cupping at our Melville Place shop on Wednesday next week.

This time it will be with someone we’ve admired for many years - 🥹☀️

Alongside our real good friends at we’ll be slurping some ridiculous cups from Honduras, including Benjamin’s own farm which won the Honduran Cup of Excellence. We have been trying ti try these for some time now, but they are tight in supply thanks to their admiration from the likes of

More details to be announced, but we hope you can join us from 6pm for a special evening of special coffees.

It’s always the greatest of pleasures to see cool people do cool things together. Two of the coolest have been slinging cool (but hot) batch brews amongst other treats today. It’s not too late to swing by real quick.

We worked with + co to source a coffee specifically for them, a Natural Nicaragua that’s hits all the sweet notes. It’s cool to see it being used not only in their cool space in Dundee, but at this cool pop up in London. Grab a bag if you can! 🙏🏻💜

I’m all done saying cool now. Enjoy everyone. 😎🧊

The final day at Frederick St today. Bittersweet emotions that we’re closing the chapter that got us started on our journey, but thankful that we completed a ten year lease - an enormous achievement in recent years.

Over that time we’ve had the incredible luck to have worked with many, many great people who have shaped the shop into many forms. I’ll look back on those more in the coming weeks, but for now I hope you are able to get down for a coffee. ☕️

🍴🌯 FOODIE WANTED…

When it comes to food at Cairngorm we’re all about simple, focussed menu items with a touch of finesse. Sometimes that’s as simple as adding micro herbs or edible flowers to a plate, other times it’s working with great suppliers like & among many others.

We’re on the lookout for friendly, energetic people who love food. This role doesn’t necessarily require experience, but a desire to experiment with flavours and keep your stations tidy is a must.

You’ll work alongside our great food team at Melville Place to help our customers Make Great Memories.

We are flexible about hours, but would prefer someone’s FT (36 hours over 4 days) and pay over the Real Living Wage for Scotland. Start date can be immediate, or before the end of October.

Please reach out to [email protected] to express your interest.

Made Great Memories ☕️💛

As promised yesterday, we have an important announcement to make. 📢

This Saturday 30th September will be the final day of trading as Cairngorm Coffee at 41a Frederick St.

To say it has played a monumentally significant part in my life professionally, and personally, would be putting it lightly. I started the business as a boy in his early 20’s, with the focus to make good coffee more approachable. I feel we’ve achieved that in abundance and can take great pride that we are seeing out a 10 year lease.

We’ll save a more soppy post for the final days but please pop by and support the shop and share any happy memories you might have.

~ Robi

Quintessential chuck the brolly up and take five to dash to your local cafe and grab a delicious cup of locally roasted coffee. We’ve got pastries too. 🥐

There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes, etc. ☔️ ☕️

15/09/2023

📢 We will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday at Melville Place next week for some essential maintenance.

We’ve had a super busy Summer and want to extend a huge thank you for visiting and continuing to support us. The two days break next week will allow us to reset and enter Autumn on a high! 🍂

Thanks so much for understanding. ☺️

We’re beside ourselves with excitement to be involved in this cupping hosted by our great friends at and our future pals 😊

We’re a bit rusty on the public cupping game, but we’ve got some great evenings lined up. Come down to this on the 28th September and ‘let’s get slurpy’™️ 🥄

Introducing the World Champions Super Blend… 🏉 ☕️

Following on from our Grand Slam coffee earlier in the year, we’re back to have another crack at glory and support Scotland in their World Cup journey.

We’re really excited by the notes of Honeycomb, Cherry, Banana Rum and Chocolate in this blend of Londrina (Brazil) and El Vergel (Colombia).

First orders will ship on Monday for you to savour the sweet taste of ‘hope’ as we reflect on a tough test against the ‘Boks, and another physical test against Tonga.

With the right coffee anything is possible 🔥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤌🏻

It’s nice to be dice 🎲

We just uploaded some wee gift ideas for the coffee lover in your life. Grab them on our site while they last.

- infamous dice which pass the recipe creation to chance. 🃏

- Big chunky wooden Latte Art dice, perfect for your next battle. ⚔️

We found these during our roastery move; the former I believe sold out many years ago and could be cult status now, so grab some quick. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏼🏃🏻‍♂️

Kenya and Peaberries; name a better combo.

For as long as we can remember we have loved sourcing peaberries, with some memorable ones from Kenya in recent years. 🇰🇪

Expect lots of syrupy-ness from the us one thanks to the natural mutation of the coffee cherry which results in one bean instead of two. That’s one taking advantage of all the sugary goodness from the mucilage and absorbing it up in a nice parcel of joy for you.

Go grab it on our site now. 🤝

You can look at this post in two ways. 👀

1. A reminder that we do everything as takeaway; perfect for roaming the streets of Edinburgh and enjoying the Fringe while you caffeinate.

2. A frustrating notice that we will be using compostable containers for all service at Melville Pl tomorrow due to a malfunction with our dishwasher. This has made it impossible for us to operate as normal in such a busy time.

We’re hopeful this will be fixed before the weekend is out, but want to thank you for your understanding in the meantime. We will be operating as normal outwith the lack of crockery.

A great opportunity to bring your etc! 💛

Photos from Cairngorm Coffee's post 08/08/2023

Further to our earlier message, we are excited to announce an opportunity with us. We are looking for a team member to join for an immediate start to tackle the Fringe and beyond!

Core to our culture at Cairngorm is:

To be progressive 🚀
To be positive ☀️
To serve without reservation 🛎️

We want to give our customers great experiences and whilst we want to present extraordinary coffees, we also want to ensure that we are accessible to all.

To achieve all of this we thrive best with upbeat, enthusiastic people by our side who want to work hard for each other and succeed as a team. 🤝

Fancy working up to 36 hours a week with better than National Living Wage hourly rates? Shoot us an email with your CV and let us know why you’re a good fit ~ [email protected] ✌🏼

It’s results day for SQA students across Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and with that the newly launched National Opportunity Day.

Something I strongly believe and have experienced at Cairngorm over the past 9 years is that opportunities for growth at work are everywhere, you just have to consciously decide where you want to succeed and work hard to make it happen.

That means not only being open and honest with your team about your goals, but showing up ready to make them happen every day.

In our case often the best opportunities have been taken by those with not only self-motivation but initiative too. It’s incredibly important to use initiative to create your own development whether this is as simple as saying, ‘I’m going to become the best person in my team at tasting coffee’, in the hope of having the opportunity to progress your sensory understanding and lead a public cupping which could evolve into a quality role within a roastery.

Within the bigger picture of your end goal there are small details which, when focussed upon and achieved every day, can provide you with great opportunity.
