40 families joined us for a wonderful time at this month’s Teeny Tiny Creatives during the half term. Inspired by the book, Funny Bones by Allan Ahlberg and Janet Ahlberg, children and adults alike moved their funny bones to music and created art together.

Our Teeny Tiny Sessions offer a great opportunity to bond with your little ones, to release energy & stress through movement and creative activities (and to just be a bit silly 🤪!).

Our next session is 3rd of December, so don’t forget to book your place- the link is in our Bio. We hope to see you for another fun, creative and active session! ☺️

We’re still beaming from all the fun we had bouncing around at the Teeny Tiny Creatives session last week!
The session was based on ‘Press Here’ by so we had lots of primary colours, circles and balls. We took families on a journey, shaking, pressing and blowing dots around the room. So great to see all the adults fully engaged in play alongside their children!

We can’t wait to see you at the next session on 29th October. You can book now via the link in the bio ☺️xx

Can you guess what book we based our last Teeny Tiny Creatives session with on?

It was ´We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Micheal Rosen. We went on an exciting, sensory journey through swishy swashy grass, cold water, squelchy mud, a forest filled with sticks and a snow storm before we found our bear! We made tactile maps and collages about what we had done. Then we relaxed on cushions with a cuddly toy and listened to the story together.

We had a full house and it was wonderful to see so many of you there.

We will be back for more fun sessions at the Quarterhouse from Tuesday 1st October 11am. Hope to see you there!

Wow it’s been a while… we have all been pretty much full time mumming this summer holiday and totally neglected the socail media (which is probably a good thing!) Finally feel like we are emerging from the rollercoaster that is being with your kids 24/7!

Next Tuesday we have our first Teeny Tiny Creatives sessions of the term with at 11am at the Quarterhouse. During the session we will be taking you and your little ones on an adventure using art and movement, based on a much loved children’s story.

To book your place, follow the Teeny Tiny Creatives link in our Bio. Visit our website https://www.onsolidground.co.uk/teeny-tiny-creatives for more information.

See you there!

A wonderful way to end the summer term at Teeny Tiny Creatives with . Our last session was based on the book Hooray for Fish by Lucy Cousins. We created our own fish and both adults & children enjoyed, swimming, floating, curling and unfolding as sea creatures! 🐟 🐠 🦀🪼 🌊

We will be back for more fun sessions at the Quarterhouse from Tuesday 3rd September 11am.

Watch out it’s the running away peas 🫛!!!

What a wonderful first session of our Teeny Tiny Creatives yesterday . Inspired by the book The Run Away Pea by Kjartan Poskitt and Alex Willmore.

We pinged, splatted, rolled, span and bounced in the space before putting our peas on paper. Thank you to all of you who came and made the session so much fun. More Teeny Tiny Creatives to come!

Happy !
Today we are reflecting on the privilege and gratitude we feel, after spending a peaceful and inspiring morning working with a wonderful group of mothers as part of . What a beautiful start to celebrating the achievements, strength and resilience of women across the world, especially those facing immense challenges and hardship. Today is a reminder, that every day of the year we need to support each other and advocate for the ones whose voices are often drowned out, so that all women can thrive, live peacefully and be supported.

We had a very exciting morning setting up our Mother Nurture exhibition at the Brewery Tap for the Take Up Space Festival with . The exhibition show cases the wonderful work of 7 mothers from our most recent course. Though what we do is never about the outcomes, this exhibition celebrates the journeys of these women and the beauty of self expression. We have been filled with joy at being part of this process and now seeing the beautiful art (that comes from within) displayed, is definitely the cherry on the cake! We can't wait to share it with you!😁

Everything feels better and more manageable after a good shake out!

It's so important to find ways to release the stress and tension we hold in our bodies. Shaking activates the parasympathetic nervous system (which predominates in quiet “rest and digest” conditions) and signals the brain to calm, relax and let go. The proprioceptive input of jumping also activates this system and allows us to feel safe.

So throw away your inhibitions and dance around like a wally...you know you want too!

It can feel hard to allow ourselves to let go and rest, especially as mothers. The weight on us to care, support, nourish, organise, play, clean and get things done can feel absolutely overwhelming.

It’s so important we find spaces for rest, to be nourished and nurtured as we give so much to those around us.

Bilateral drawing (drawing with both hands) engages cross-hemisphere activity in the brain. It’s soothing and grounding, bringing us into the present moment. This empowering task can help regulate your nervous system.

Find a moment today to give it a go… and let us know how you feel in the comments👇 It’s like a massage for your brain!!!
