To enter, all you have to do is guess the name and the lucky winner will win the Koala. 50p per guess. All money raised will be donated to school funds.
Please come along and support our year 6s in their final week at Saltergate - we're looking forward to seeing you there!
In Discovery Learning, as part of our theme on the seaside and holidays, we have been enjoying learning all about ice creams and ice lollies!
We have set up our own ice cream shop, made our own ice lollies with fresh fruit and designed our own ice lollies using different colours and materials.

The children did incredibly well at the Tag Rugby Festival last week, showing huge improvement from their first game to their last.
They were also great Saltergate ambassadors by showing great teamwork, respect and resilience. It was for this reason, one of the children was chosen for the medal from Harrogate Rugby Club for showing their 'TREDS' values (teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship).
Well done to all the children involved, we are very proud of you.

Yet again our fabulous Razzmatazz Club wowed their audience with another fabulous performance. They have been such a joy to work with every Wednesday. They performed a brilliant poem about waves and several action-packed songs!
Our children performed with such enthusiasm and confidence. Mrs Rudge and Mrs Hornsby-Shawe are incredibly proud of them and are already looking forward to planning their next performance, which will include lots of songs and poems about harvest time.
Following on from our inspiring trip to the Sculpture Park, our children have been designing and making lots of sculptures, using different materials. They have had so much fun and have worked with great creativity.
Well done Year 2... You are amazing!
Year 1 and Year 2
Please find on our website some information regarding our classes for Year 1 and 2 in September. I do hope that you will find this information helpful and informative.
I would like to invite you to come along to school for a question-and-answer session on Thursday 4th July at 2.45pm; this will give you the opportunity to raise any points which you may have.
I would like to assure you that a great deal of thought has gone into this decision-making process, from senior staff, teachers and the Governing Body. We are committed to providing the very best experience that we can for all our pupils.

The National Wraparound Childcare Programme is a UK initiative launched in March 2023. It aims to provide extended childcare services beyond regular school hours. We have our fabulous Kids
Club on site for our children in Reception to Year 6. Therefore, we have been asked by our Governors to look into any potential interest for wraparound care in our Discovery Learning setting.
Currently, Discovery Learning operates during school hours, however we are aware that this does limit who is able to choose our setting as an option due to working hours of parents and carers.
We would like to invite all of our community to complete the form below to provide any feedback and/or interest in the introduction of wraparound care for our nursery. Please share this with friends and family in the area who may be interested in this.
Please complete the form here by Friday 12th July 2024.
Year 5 practised their conversions outside today. They measured, weighed and converted all sorts of objects in our outdoor space.
They even used the outside tap to convert between ml and l!
We have had a wonderful week in Discovery Learning with our teddies! Lots of lots of teddy bears came to school for our picnics.

Year 2 had an absolutely fantastic time being sculpture detectives at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park this week! They had so much fun learning about different sculptors, sketching sculptures, dancing around sculptures and being human sculptures.
Members of the public and staff at the park commented on their politeness, knowledge and beautiful behaviour. Well done Year 2, we are enormously proud of you and...you really are amazing!

This week also saw our Future Lioness Club. The girls that signed up worked with coaches from a girl's development centre called 'future lionesses', this development centre encourage and help girls who want to be future lionesses (ages 8-16 years, school years 4-11).
We were lucky enough as a school to have the opportunity to have these coaches come in to offer a free one off session to any girls that wanted to have a go.
All the girls involved worked incredibly hard and showed off some amazing football skills, they have all received some leaflets on the development centre if they feel it is something they may want to take part in.
We also have a few leaflets left at the office if any girls would like to take a look, that did not attend.
Year 6 Stalls – What a success!!
This week saw the Year 6 Stalls and what a fabulous day we had! Everyone loved the experience with special prizes and incredible stalls. We have raised £518! This was one of the best years yet.
This will pay for the cinema trip and a second treat for the Year 6 Leavers, so thank you so much to everyone!!
Year 3 – Egypt Day
Friday 28th June will be Year 3’s Egypt Day! Children are welcome to come as an Egyptian, an archaeologist or in your own clothes or school uniform.
To complete one of our 'Saltergate Ten' activities and with the nice weather ahead, we are going to have a Teddy Bear's picnic next week.
We will have a few different picnics throughout the week to ensure everyone gets to go. Most children have had a go at writing invitations for their Teddies this week. Please could your child bring in one teddy on the days they attend Discovery Learning.
The picnic will be in school, most probably on the KS1 grass or in the pagoda , weather dependent. We will be making some delicious treats to have too with the help of the children.
Thank you for your support.
Don't forget Infants have a 'Dress down/PJs/Comfy clothes' day tomorrow.

Year 5 will still need their swimming kit and will attend the Year 6 stalls with their year group later in the day.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, step-dads, grandads and more in our community, and lots of love to those may be struggling today for whatever reason.

Next week, we will be hosting our own Euro2024 football tournament! All of KS2 will be given the opportunity to take part in the football tournament linked to a country taking part in the championships. Year 3 and Year 4 will host their competition on Thursday 20th June, Year 5 and Year 6 will host their competition on Friday 21st June.
On these days, children can wear their own clothes (suitable to play football in if they wish to do so), wearing a colour representing a country taking part in the Euros.
Anyone not taking part in the football games as a player will be given the chance to referee, commentate, coach or support! They can join in the celebration by wearing the colours of their favourite teams and nations too. Please don't buy any clothes or kits especially for the occasion, coloured t-shirts and clothing will be perfect!
Our wonderful Year 2 children had a fabulous time this morning.
They walked around our local area, looking out for human and physical features. They also looked carefully at the environment and shared their opinions about what they liked about Jennyfields and what they thought needed to be improved.
They have decided they would all like to write letters to the council to tell them about their findings... how exciting!
All our children were so responsible and respectful. Well done Year 2, we are incredibly proud of you!
Pupils in the Junior School are taking part in their very own general election on 4th July. Pupils can nominate themselves to be our Saltergate Member of Parliament.
They can collect a form from their teacher to explain why they want to be our MP, what promises they will make and why we should vote for them.
Forms need to be handed in to the class teachers by next Wednesday, 19th June.
The classes will then vote on who their class candidate for our general election will be. We'll keep you posted - exciting times!

Day 1 and this new shelter from FOSS has already had it's fair share of bums on seats already!
We are going to love this for shelter in all weathers, sheltering from the sun and the rain! We're going to use it for outdoor lessons as well as calm spaces during breaktimes! 🌞☔🍃📚 The possibilities are endless!
