This time 3 years ago I was really struggling to get through the day.
First symptoms of what I later learned to be perimenopause were keeping me exhausted, confused and thinking I was losing my mind.
I didn’t know my iron levels were low.
I didn’t know that my progesterones was low and was causing all sorts of problems which didn’t seem connected.
From physical exhaustion to terrible anxiety and breaking down in tears over the smallest things, I couldn’t cope with my work and family life.
I took me a year to get help with my hormones and change my lifestyle.
I trained as a naturopathic health coach to understand my body better.
My journey was full of mistakes and took longer than it should.
This is why I have created my Vitality Vault membership, so you don’t have to go through all that research and testing all the things.

If you keep surviving on coffee and sugar snacks, your energy levels will always be on a rollercoaster and out of control
Your body in midlife needs a lot more protein, to maintain muscle mass and curb the cravings, so skipping meals will not serve you now. Stressing your body with a wrong exercise will also add stress to your body and make you store more fat.
You might think that a glass of wine is helping you switch off, but it’s robbing you of restorative sleep.
Booking some classes or making time for workouts in your work diary is what you might need to do. Don’t just rely on your motivation, as it will come and go.
When you are investing in tools to help you and to educate yourself, make sure that you put an accountability system in place, so that your life gets better with using that knowledge.
Supplements can be helpful when you have severe deficiency of certain nutrients, but aiming for taking 10 pills every day for the rest of your life is not a healthy living strategy. Implementing new habits and eating the right stuff is.
There are no shortcuts to your healthy life, you need to do the work. When you look at other women who seem to have it all, it’s because they have worked hard on this and they were not afraid to ask for help when they knew they needed it.
I know it’s hard, but so is having a life you don’t want. Choose your hard!

It can be tough to prioritize yourself when you have so much to do.
You’re busy at work, maybe teenage kids who need you to drive them everywhere, or maybe parents who always need your help with something. Oh and there’s a house to keep in shape, fridge to fill up and a dog still waiting for his walk....
Life can be hectic. Why are we leaving our health and self care for the end of this list though?
This is how we have been brought up, to look after everyone first and if there’s time left, we might do something for ourselves, with a feeling of guilt as well...
Being a woman in midlife means that you’re starting to feel that you just cannot keep going at the pace you used to.
We want to deny this feeling because we thing it means we’re getting old.
If you are feeling exhausted from the minute you wake up until the minute you put your head down on the pillow at night, it’s not all about your age. Please don’t settle for “it’s just how it’s going to be now”.
Please don’t hide how you feel from your loved ones and colleagues at work, you could end up with chronic inflammation leading to autoimmune disease, chronic stress and not just unwanted weight around your belly, but also some worrying cholesterol and glucose levels.
At the time when your hormones are out of the balance you have been used to for the last 20 years, putting your health as a priority in your diary is crucial.
Don’t be afraid to ask for support and ashamed to admit that you’re struggling. Many of us are. In silence.

It’s not everyone and everywhere, but I can still see this happening.
No wonder we start to panic and feel like we’re losing control when with peri and menopause come many struggles of gaining weight in places we didn’t before, we feel tired all the time and have no patience for ourselves and those around us.
It’s so easy to start skipping breakfast, try quitting carbs and go crazy on some intense exercise classes…
I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to panic.

Ladies, we need to make extra effort in midlife to look after our bones and joints.
Decreasing level of estrogen can be one of the causes of increased inflammation.
So we need to take charge and do what we can to support our bone health.

Do you find yourself reaching for that chocolate bar mid afternoon or just before bedtime again?

This used to be me. Running on energy rollercoaster starting from the morning, all the way through the day.
Reasons? My stress levels and anxiety were running the show and I was filling the hole in my heart with food instead of dealing with my challenges.
I was also skipping breakfast or grabbing sweet pastries on the way to work which caused my blood glucose go wild. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a diabetic. But I now know how my body reacts to different foods and I know that I need protein in the morning to stabilise my energy, sugar levels and cravings.
It took me ages to work it all out.

One of the areas of health I have been working on even more recently is my gut health.
I understand the connection to brain and my immune system
I’m doing what I can to reduce the brain fog caused by midlife hormones fluctuation and also to prevent getting infections in winter.
I also want my skin to feel as good as possible
So these daily habits are really supporting me.
