With the right help, a child can often learn new words in new ways faster than even their parent’s expected! 🙌❤️

When a child communicates something new or unexpected it’s such a magical moment. It’s the moment when the joy of language is discovered. Saying something that no-one expects is exactly what communication is all about 🤩

We need to make sure we’ve given children enough words, in a way that works for them AND shown them the power of what these words can do for them for unexpected communication moments to be a possibility 💪

10/05/2024

To celebrate my new programme AACcelerate 🥳 I have created a special 1:1 Breakthrough session so that I can personally help more parents faster. These sessions are FREE for parents next week only and are LIMITED so will book up fast 🔥

DM me the word APPLY for the booking link 👍

If you need specialist, personalised advice right now for your child who may be nonspeaking or have minimal speech then I’d love you to have one of these slots! (Worth £300)

Maybe your child seems ‘stuck’ with their communication, they’re frustrated and you know they have more to say than they’re able to with speech right now.

But you’ve received conflicting advice or no advice at all, and you know you need help right now to ensure your child learns to communicate successfully.

In 45mins I can answer all your questions, we can speak about whether or not a communication app is right for your child now and what that could look like 🤔

The first step is to make a plan that works for you AND your child as soon as possible🙏

If you feel now is the time to take control and get the help you need then grab one of these slots while they’re still available 🙌🤗

I can’t wait to hear about your child ❤️

AAC stands for 'Augmentative and Alternative Communication' 👇

Communication systems, devices, signs, writing and tools are known as AAC. They can be used alongside speech or instead of speech. We all use AAC to communicate! 👍

Why does AAC matter?

AAC is the game changer, the unsung hero, the door to a new world of language and communication.

AAC opens up the potential for a child to communicate in new ways, for new reasons and with new language 🙌

Wherever you are in your AAC journey, you will find useful information and resources about AAC on the Communication Matters website https://www.communicationmatters.org.uk/what-is-aac/

Another great place for information on all things AAC is Assistiveware's website https://www.assistiveware.com/learn-aac/what-is-aac

October is AAC Awareness Month! ❤

This year the theme is "Say what? Sharing your memorable moments with AAC" 🌟

Of course "Say What?" is American English so a quick translation to something a wee bit more Scottish "Whit ye saying?" and we're ready to go! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📣

Join the Scottish AAC Geeks for AAC month awesomeness! 🤩🥳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Scottish AAC Geeks are four Scottish lassies who are all passionate about AAC.

We aim to raise awareness and support you no matter where you are on your journey.

Here's a wee post to introduce ourselves. Meet Katie, Hannah, Melanie and Ceanna 😁

Follow us to get inspired and excited about all things communication 😊👍

I love this 😊

In our presentation at ATIA last week, you could hear a pin drop. A respectful silence filled the room as Krista responded to questions from the attendees. Looking out into the crowd all you saw were head nods and quiet responses of admiration and understanding. It was a perfect and genuinely life-changing moment for Krista and all of us watching. These are the moments we want to give our friends who use AAC, the true mentors and teachers.
