Would a you benefit from a sports massage?
Regular training can cause tightness or inflammation in damaged muscles, which in turn can reduce blood flow. Meaning your tissues aren't getting the vital nutrients and energy they need to repair.
Fortunately regular sports massage can combat this... 😀
🤸🏼♀️ Improve tissue elasticity – hit a wall with your training? Tough sessions can make for tough tissues which hampers training adaptation. Massage reverses tissues hardening through gentle stretching.
🩸Aids blood flow - different strokes are used to move blood into and out of tissues and encourages micro circulation.
🥳 Faster recovery - after a hard session, ni**le or injury its especially important for muscles to take up oxygen and nutrients which help them recover quicker.
🚨 Removes waste - by increasing tissue permeability massage helps remove waste products, eg lactic acid and allows fluids to enter more easily so more oxygen and nutrients can be absorbed.
😌 Relaxation – touch, pressure, tissue length and warmth are used to stimulate the body's relaxation reflex.
🧎🏻♀️Stretching – muscles fibres, muscles sheath and facia can all be stretched lengthways and sideways, unlike conventional stretches so is better able to release tension or pressure.
😳 Pain reduction – by releasing endorphins, easing tension and removing waste products massage helps to reduce pain.
💔 Break down scar tissue – scar tissue (tissue resulting from previous injury) is often tough and fibrous. Muscles, tendons and ligaments with scar tissue have reduced elasticity and flexibility meaning supporting tissues compensate, leading to injury and pain.
Sports massage has many benefits and so can play an important part in the life of any active person by helping to maintain the body in generally better condition, prevent injuries and loss of mobility, cure and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue, boost performance and extend the overall life of your sporting career.
If you would like to book a sports massage with me, please DM me or pop into the clinic on Street Lane. Feel free to share if you know someone who would benefit from a treatment.

Woodrup cycles have recently relaunched their bikefitting service having recruited a new fitter. TeeJay ( ), a life-long cyclist herself, is also dual qualified as a Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist. She has a special interest in human movement and injury prevention which means she brings a wealth of anatomical and physiological knowledge to the bikefitting process.
Their bikefitting process is designed to help you get as much out of riding your bike as possible. We begin with an in-depth assessment to help us get to know you as a cyclist – from how often you ride, the type of riding you do, how comfortable you feel on your bike currently, and a full injury history. This all helps them determine what kind of fit is most suitable.
They then measure you and your bike and set everything up on an indoor trainer using Shimano’s bikefitting.com fit software combined with our traditional bikefitting methods.
Their standard Bikefit at £150 also includes a cleat fit, we then offer an optional advanced physiological assessment where flexibility, core strength and glute strength are tested. This additional service helps identify areas of muscular weakness which you can then address going forwards to help improve your fit, and ultimately, your speed (or comfort). The total cost including the advanced assessment is £200.
They have already accumulated multiple 5* Google reviews since relaunching this service, if you would like to book in please email [email protected]
