On Wednesday, we hosted a fantastic Social Meet & Greet at our Waterside Care Home in Peckham, London, in celebration of National Care Leavers Week, which runs this year from October 29th to November 3rd. This week shines a spotlight on creating an inclusive future for young people through several key initiatives:

📢 Amplifying their voices
🤝 Raising awareness of their unique challenges
💼 Promoting changes in policies and practices

At Agincare, we are proud to support this important cause. In partnership with One Pearson and Southwark Council, we launched a meaningful program offering 3-month experience placements. This initiative aims to equip care leavers and young adults from challenging backgrounds with the skills and confidence needed to build brighter futures.

The program provides essential support to young people facing difficult circumstances, including troubled backgrounds, time in care, mental health challenges, and neurodiverse needs. We are also committed to continuous professional development (CPD) ensuring opportunities to gain new qualifications and expand career pathways.

Greenhive residents had a delightful visit from Christ Embassy Church yesterday, where they participated in a small service that included uplifting songs and prayers. The team would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the church for their generous donations of toiletries for the residents. It was a wonderful day filled with community spirit and support!

Greenhive residents enjoyed a drawing activity in celebration of Halloween. With spooky music playing in the background, everyone had a laugh as they worked on their drawings, creating a festive and light-hearted atmosphere!😀

This year, National Care Leavers Week runs from 29th October to 3rd November, and we’re excited to be part of this powerful initiative. We're proud to see the first success story of this initiative already underway at Waterside, where a young care leaver is gaining hands-on experience in our kitchens at both Waterside and Greenhive locations.

Yesterday, Greenhive residents had a great time baking together! We made delicious Rocky Road bars and enjoyed them as an afternoon snack. We whipped up two batches, and both turned out amazing 😋. You can find the recipe on Good Food under 'Easy Rocky Road.

Greenhive residents enjoyed a wonderful visit from secondary school students just before their half-term break. The students baked a variety of delicious cakes and prepared some sandwiches to share. Altogether, 12 students spent the afternoon chatting and connecting with the residents, making it a truly memorable experience.😀

The team at Greenhive had a great time at our very own Battle of the Jollof event, where three teams – Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Ghana – went head-to-head to showcase their finest Jollof recipes!

Each team was judged on taste and presentation by our panel of six discerning judges. After savoring all three delicious dishes, the crown goes to... 🏆 Team Nigeria! 🎉

Greenhive residents had a blast colouring stain glass pumpkins for our Halloween activity on Wednesday afternoon! 🎃

At Greenhive on Tuesday, residents enjoyed reading poems and extracts from books about black history. It was a nice activity and we learnt a lot about different cultures

Greenhive residents had a great time on Thursday with The Home Road Show drama group. We sang, danced, laughed, and enjoyed a fantastic show filled with fun and entertainment.😀

The Greenhive residents had an incredible morning on Tuesday with Debbie, the opera singer. Her powerful voice was stunning as she performed beautifully. We enjoyed a mix of classic and favourite songs, making it a truly memorable experience.🎤

On Saturday, Greenhive residents, family members, team, and the home manager enjoyed the gardening club. We had a great time potting winter and spring bulbs in pots. While sipping hot drinks and enjoying croissants, we also managed to finish before it started to rain. 🌧

The residents at Greenhive had a wonderful time celebrating Nigeria's Independence Day on Tuesday. The day was filled with delicious food, lively music, and lots of dancing. A big thank you to all the chefs for the amazing food that made the celebration extra special!
