Active Life Podiatry
One of London’s most clinically advanced foot specialists: experts in movement, injury and pain.
Active Life Podiatry is one of London's most up-to-date centres for minor surgical treatment of foot-related injuries and abnormalities. We provide routine care, minor foot surgery, steroid injection, biomechanics, sports enhancement, gait analysis and the supply of oral antibiotics.
Dry needling is no longer the best kept secret in podiatry, as its popularity continues to grow.
But what is dry needling and how can it help you?
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by podiatrists involving the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points in the muscle, known as trigger points.
Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is rooted in Western medicine and focuses on relieving muscle pain and improving function.
🌟Pain Relief: Dry needling can significantly reduce pain in the feet and lower limbs by targeting and releasing tight muscle bands and trigger points.
Improved Mobility: By relieving muscle tension, dry needling can enhance your range of motion, making it easier to walk and perform daily activities.
🌟Faster Recovery: This technique can accelerate the healing process from foot and leg injuries by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.
🌟Reduced Muscle Tension: It helps to alleviate chronic muscle tightness and spasms, which can improve overall muscle function and reduce discomfort.
🌟Enhanced Athletic Performance: For athletes, dry needling can aid in quicker recovery from injuries and enhance performance by keeping muscles in optimal condition.

At Active Life Podiatry, we understand the impact of diabetes on foot health.
Diabetes foot care is crucial due to the potential complications associated with the condition. Elevated blood sugar levels can lead to nerve damage (neuropathy) and poor circulation, particularly in the feet.
This combination makes those with diabetes more susceptible to foot problems.
Proper foot care helps prevent and manage these issues.
Regular check ups, good hygiene, comfortable footwear choices, and prompt medical attention for any concerns are essential.
By prioritising diabetes foot care, we can significantly reduce the risk of complications and maintain overall health and mobility.
We continue to work on prevention, education, and support for those managing diabetes. 👣💙
A huge thank you to our valued patients for taking the time to leave such wonderful feedback for the service received at Active Life Podiatry.
We are hugely grateful for the incredible five star reviews over on Google. 🙌

If you've ever wondered about the difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist in the UK, you're not alone!
While these terms are often used interchangeably, there are some small differing elements.
🦶 Chiropodists: Traditionally, chiropodists were known for focusing on basic foot care, tackling issues like nail trimming, callus removal, and general foot hygiene. They were your go-to for those important routine, foot maintenance tasks.
👣 Podiatrists: In contrast, podiatrists have evolved to encompass a broader spectrum of foot health. They're the pros you turn to for more complex issues, such as diagnosing and treating medical conditions like diabetes-related foot problems, sports injuries, and biomechanical concerns. Podiatrists undergo extensive training, often specialising in areas like orthopedics, surgery, or sports medicine.
In essence, while both chiropodists and podiatrists play a vital role in keeping your feet happy, podiatrists dive deeper into the world of foot health, handling a wider range of conditions.
So, whether you seek basic foot care or specialised treatment, professionals in both categories are dedicated to the well-being of your feet!

Your feet are incredible communicators, and as podiatrists, we are here to decipher their messages! 👣🔍
🚶♂️ Walking Style: The way you walk can tell us a lot about your musculoskeletal health. Do you have an even stride, or do you favour one side? These details can point to issues in your posture or alignment.
🦶 Nail Health: Your toenails can reveal more than you think. Discolouration, thickening, or crumbling could indicate a number if illnesses and diseases, from psoriasis to heart problems.
😃 Skin Condition: Dry, cracked heels may hint at dehydration or fungal infections.
😓 Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis, is a common condition which we may be able to help with. Numbness of your feet or areas that are slow to heal might be linked to diabetes.
🦶 Foot Arch: High or low arches affect how weight is distributed on your feet, potentially leading to pain or discomfort.
We can assess your arches and recommend appropriate support.
👠 Footwear Clues: The wear patterns on your shoes can also tell a story. Uneven wear might suggest a gait issue that needs attention.
So, while your feet might not speak in words, they certainly have a lot to say about your overall health.
