We've got an exciting announcement to make! Animator Maria Tomazou will be joining us at Animation Reframed on 31 July! Plus, we'll be screening her incredible animated short "The Tornado Outside" (2023) after our screening of Fantastic Mr Fox!
Maria is the director of incredible animated films including '"The Tornado Outside" (2023), "Jellyfish Tango" (2022), and "Perfect Circle" (2022).
Attendees will be given the chance to take a look at Maria's puppets - and get involved in bringing them to life with the help of a creative brief from our course leader!

‘Animation Reframed’ is the Lexi’s first Summer Film School for young people - a week-long deep dive into 21st century animation.
Over five one-off screenings, we’ll see how recent shifts in technology, representation, and style have been tearing up the rule book for animated cinema. A pass for the week gives you access to all five films - including an exclusive preview of ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ and Q&A with the filmmakers. Through exciting discussions and creative activities, we’ll explore the unique power and history of animation, and ask where this limitless medium is headed next.

We are honoured to be able to say that cellist and holocaust survivor Anita Lasker Wallfisch MBE and her daughter Maya Lasker-Wallfisch will be joining us for an in-person Q&A on Sat 13 July and Mon 15 July, following screenings of The Commandant's Shadow.
On 15 July, they will be joined by Lexi documentary programmer Carin von Drehle.

About the guests:
Anita Lasker-Wallfisch MBE, is one of the subjects of documentary The Commandant's Shadow. Born in 1925 in what is now Wrocław, Poland Anita is a survivor of the Holocaust. Moving to London in 1946, she is an accomplished cellist, and a co-founder of the English Chamber Orchestra.
Maya Lasker-Wallfisch features in The Commandant's Shadow, having facilitated the historic meeting between her mother, Anita and Hans Jürgen Höss. Maya lives and works between London and Berlin as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Author and Educator.

6-year-old Cléo adores her Nanny Gloria. But when Gloria suddenly has to return to Cape Verde to take care of her own children, a painful separation is on the horizon. Gloria invites Cléo to Cape Verde to spend one last summer together, and the pair resolve to cherish every moment.
