1965. Were you there?

in 1965, The Kinks took to the stage at the Walthamstow Granada - the venue reopening later this year as Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

58 years ago, the Muswell Hill foursome were poised to become international mega-stars. Their setlist would surely have included early hits like 'You Really Got Me' and 'All Day and All of the Night'.

Were you there? We'd love to hear any stories or see any photos!

The Granada Walthamstow cinema campaign needs YOU!
As you can see, the reopening is happening soon. So we want to build an archive of the building's history.
Do you have any old IMAGES - photos, posters, tickets, programmes - that you can share for the building's archives please? You can post them in comments here and/or email [email protected] We're especially looking for better-quality versions of these ones please.
Do comment with your STORIES too. We'd love to hear your memories. The building has had an incredible past... and we're excited that it will have an brilliant future!

After years under wraps, Soho Theatre Walthamstow is being unveiled.

This jewel of Waltham Forest has been brought back to life for its community: it’ll open for a soft launch in late 2023, then Soho Theatre's first full programme will start in early 2024.

To note:
—does the roof look different to you? We’ve recreated the Dutch Gable curved roof of the building’s first few decades, permanently damaged in the Second World War and then removed… until now
—With support from heritage experts we’ve painstakingly recreated the original green colour from 1930s, painted over with greys - until now!

We can’t wait to get you in the building to show off the many ways we’re honouring this exceptional space.
