Velvet TMJ: treatment 1.

So, last night I started a course of Velvet TMJ sessions at the Harley Street Specialist Hospital. A wonderful non invasive gadget that I don’t understand but just love that it’s non invasive and risk free.

The website says it’s ‘the district technology with capacitive and resistive diathermy, electroporation and ablative radiofrequency.’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

The treatment itself was fine and didn’t hurt, felt more like a hot stone facial. The device is used not just on my jaw but neck muscles and temples too, which was great..

It did start to ache after an hour or so post treatment and I felt like my jaw and neck have done a workout. It feels a little bit better this morning but still quite tired and achey.

I noticed last night that I could move my neck a bit more freely and that my mouth could open a tiny bit wider. 😲 This morning less so though.

Looking forward to what the next treatment brings but also trying not to get my hopes up too much!

Dr Rosy Jalan is a Consultant Radiologist specialising in all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging with a special interest in sports injuries.

She also performs image-guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and injections for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. She participates in and runs several multidisciplinary team meetings for the management of all forms of orthopaedic, rheumatological, spinal conditions and sports-related injuries.

Minimising intervention is at the heart of Mrs Anne Mitchener’s approach, using minimally invasive surgical techniques and injections wherever appropriate.
