The Olympic Games showcase the best of the best, the sporting icons chasing gold and fulfilling teams.
But every Olympian began their journey at a grassroots club. What they got there wasn’t centred initial on a push to the podium. Life opportunities, positive role models, a chance to learn and grow.
That’s the immense power of community sport. We asked a number of TeamGB stars about how their world was shaped by their grassroots and why it matters.
Across Paris 2024, we’re sharing their stories, day by day.
Sported's Head of Marketing & Communications Mark Woods is in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, speaking to Team GB athletes about their experiences of grassroots sport.

Kayaks is a group that offers disabled and neurodivergent young people a place to try activities that they may not normally have the opportunity to. It also offers a space where families can meet and connect with others in their community.
