We thank Ed Davey for raising with the Prime Minister at today the impact that the removal of the universal entitlement to Winter Fuel Payments will have on unpaid carers like Norman, who are over state pension age and will no longer receive the payment.
We encourage anyone who thinks they may be entitled to receive Pension Credit to check their eligibility for the benefit, as this is a qualifying benefit for the Winter Fuel Payment. You can do so here: https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign&utm_content=ap_trbt36p5hj
If you will be affected by the removal of the universal entitlement to Winter Fuel Payment, we would like to hear from you. Please contact [email protected] to share your story
Join us for an informative session where our Helpline adviser Liz will be offering guidance on Pension Credit, how to know if you are entitled to it, and how to claim it.

We’re incredibly proud to show our new campaign – aiming to help halve the amount of time it takes for unpaid carers to recognise themselves as carers
Many unpaid carers have had to care for someone on a virtual ward (also known as ‘hospital at home’).
Virtual wards support patients to manage their care at home over the short term, with close monitoring by their care teams, rather than in hospital.
We are happy to see the updated framework that has been published this week takes into account the work we have done with carers and professionals in order to improve on previous guidance: https://www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/virtual-wards-operational-framework/ -2-virtual-wards-and-supporting-carers?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=undefined&utm_content=ap_7Qhg7gJO0l4NFDn5lENsJh
You can also find more information about virtual wards on our website, including our checklist for carers: https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/practical-support/virtual-wards?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=undefined&utm_content=ap_7Qhg7gJO0l4NFDn5lENsJh
If you have any experience of caring for someone through a virtual ward that you would like to share with us, please contact [email protected]
Virtual wards | Carers UK Virtual wards aim to help patients receive their care and healthcare at home rather than in hospital. This will only happen in the short term if it's right for the patient, and care teams will carefully monitor them.
The Government need to provide proper support for unpaid carers urgently. Join us as we say to the new Govt: .
