The origins of karate date back centuries, and today karate has evolved to be more than simply a form of martial combat.

Please see below the announcement from Sensei Heap's sons, Spencer Heap and James Heap.
"It is is the terribly sad duty of my brother James & I to announce the passing of our dear father, Sensei Anthony Heap / Tony Heap.
Pops was a warrior and didn't lose many fights in his life, and while he held on far longer than anyone thought possible, unfortunately his epic battle against Parkinson's was his final showdown and he died peacefully in his sleep at 4am this morning.
We are all naturally devastated, but also take some comfort in the knowledge that he is now free from the pain of Parkinson's and he is reunited with his soulmate Carol again.
We understand that Tony was not just 'Pops' to Jim, Jakub & I, but also a brother, an uncle, a dear friend to hundreds, and 'Sensei' to thousands more. We will be updating with funeral arrangements once we have them in place so everyone can pay their respects and give Pops his final send off.
Godspeed across the great divide to the Dojo in the Sky - we love you always Pops ❤️"
Our condolences go out to Spence, Jim and all of Sensei Heap's family
