The Kaapse Vonkel, or "Cape Sparkle" in Afrikaans, was the very first Cap Classique produced in the traditional Champagne method back in 1971, and nearly 50 years later is still being produced by the same family!

With an elegant, light straw colour and fresh primary notes of granny smith apple and white flesh fruit the Kaapse Vonkel offers exceptional value for money, and is a true South African classic.

Tanzanite wines are handcrafted with skill and care by Melanie van der Merwe within the Robertson Valley in the Western Cape of South Africa. Her passion in life is to create an excellent and uniquely South African Cap Classique - which is shown in both her Brut and Brut Rosé creations.

Robertson is famous for its chalk in the soil where Melanie, in partnership with farmer, Ernst Bruwer, planted their very own Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. After years of trials, they found the terroir gave a beautiful complexity to the end product. Everything is done in small batches with the utmost care and attention to detail. Wines are left on the lease for a minimum of 24 months where the end product is finally disgorged and bottled.

Isn’t it just beautiful how those little bubbles form of your MCC. They always create a perfect Instagram shot! 📷

When it comes to drinking MCC, there are two types of glasses to choose from. The flute, which fosters a long, steady release of bubbles so you can enjoy your fizz for longer, and the tulip glass, which has the flute's small base and neck but widens in the middle, allowing bubbles to grow and persist. Pouring bubbly correctly - down into the center of the glass - is crucial. 🥂
