It’s a little bit like The Tardis, but in Notting Hill. 😊
And referring to the soundtrack - we don’t hate Richard Curtis or Hugh Grant 😂

We are so delighted to get some teaser photos for our Kensington project from 😍

Here’s a project that we have got snagged and photographed before anyone moves in. It is rare for us to get the photos so early on and thank you to our lovely client for letting us get in early on our second project together. 🙏

This was our clients childhood home. We loved hearing that after the updates, the house had the same feel.

We extended on the ground floor and into the loft in a Conservation Area and refurbished the whole house. New electrics and plumbing and heating, new insulation and joinery and a lot of tlc to walls, floors and roofs.

We love our clients sense of colour - it portrays the sense of adventure and joie de vivre they carry through life! ❤️

More of this project to come! 😊

Continuing on the theme of sharing our plans and designs for projects, this one is an interesting project to show that designing the space and detailing it well is what makes the difference between ‘building’ and ‘architecture’.

The house has already been extended to both ground floor and loft. Both spaces didn’t flow very well, all rooms and the hallway were dark and a little… joyless 🤔

The new extensions didn’t add much more space, they just rationalised the layout and introduced light into inner spaces.

This is where, in many semi-detached and terraced properties, it makes sense to put the service areas in the darkest part of the house. So if you’re looking for a general rule about laying out your home, it is to put the utility area or pantry and downstairs cloakroom in the middle.

This project is as made uniquely beautiful by its owners use of bold colours throughout. We had thought the metal balustrade was going to be black - it’s beautifully yellow 😀

We designed all the joinery, bathrooms, lighting and kitchen layout and worked with the contractors to deliver each element.

What we also love about refurbishing existing buildings is upgrading the fabric to properly insulate walls and floors. Combined with new heating and wiring, the properties we work on will hopefully have been given another 100 years of life! 😊

The previous owner of this property was an international traveler and collector of objects. It took several months and huge amount of visits to car boot sales to empty the house. So the building work seems less hassle albeit there are a huge number of decisions to make from worktops to door k***s, light switches to wall panels, timber flooring to colour of joinery. With the level of attention to detail and the amount of time invested by our lovely clients in finding the perfect fixtures and fittings, I think this is going to be one of our all time favourites. 😍

As always, it starts with a plan! ✍️

There’s a new page on our website for the Design in a Day ™️ workshops. Have a look and see if it’s suitable for your project.

We’re getting this project professionally photographed today so quite excited to see the proper photos instead of our site snapshots and to meet the photographer 📸.

The house was our client’s childhood home and it was lovely to work with him and his dad to change the house - but according to our clients, it has the same feeling as it did before.

It started with a workshop and we finished on site recently and there are a few clients that you’d love to have as part of your team in the office and this is one of them! Flair, vision and imagination and a not afraid of colour. Not surprising as he works in film. 😊 🎥

The 3D visualisations show the iterative processes that the design stages go through. Swipe for a mixture of before and after photos!

We’ll miss our weekly site meetings, but as this is our second project with Matt and Aimee, perhaps we can persuade them to another. 🤔

Glossy professional photos to follow soon! 😀

Architecture is always about creating a sense of place.

This previously awkward under-stair area was make into the family study. 📚 An interstitial space that tucks the user away and puts them in the centre of the house at the same time.
