Alistair brings joy to the Tulip Cafe with his beautiful renditions of well-known songs, including classical pieces that touch the heart. At Kings College Hospital, Alistair sang a duet with a doctor and danced with volunteer Jean, highlighting the power of music and community in brightening the lives of older adults and their carers. Thank you to everyone who helps make these magical moments possible! 🎵 💜
At our Sunflower and Butterfly Cafes, the amazing MIA (Moving in Age) dancers bring joy and connection to community and hospital patients. Watch as everyone joins in, celebrating life through dance and shared experiences. At Home Instead Wandsworth, we’re proud to support dementia-friendly spaces where older adults and their carers can find comfort, understanding, and meaningful engagement. How many of us have thought during a busy week, "oh no, I haven't prepared food for Mum or Dad"?
If you're travelling for a couple of weeks or live far away, my top tip is to freeze food and prepare in advance. This is a great option for loved ones as it means there's always a nutritious meal available and helps keep them to a routine.
Soup is a perfect meal to keep in the freezer for when you're in a pinch. If you are freezing soup, make sure to use bags intended for the freezer- not just sandwich bags. Label them with the type of soup and date cooked. Squeeze all the air out and freeze the bags flat for easy storage.
Our Care Professionals also love preparing meals with clients. From meal planning to shopping and cooking, ask us about how our Care Professionals can help keep your parent's fridge well stocked with all your loved one's favourites.
Could your loved ones benefit from assistance to get out to the local shops, companionship during the day or simply support at mealtimes?
Our local Care Professionals are ready to help so please call our friendly team to learn how we can support your family or to request a Home Instead brochure.
Our reveals these startling figures and more, highlighting how despite their enthusiasm for technology and new experiences, older adults often feel excluded from modern culture.
At Home Instead, we’re committed to changing this narrative and ensuring that everyone feels valued and connected.

This week we're celebrating . Let's take a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, share a cuppa with loved ones, and make memories. What's your favourite tea time treat? 🍵🧁
Each Care Professional on our team is carefully matched with their clients and always personally introduced - ensuring a strong relationship is formed based on shared interests and hobbies.
Our partnership with Parkinson’s UK has brought specialised training to our Care Professionals. Parkinson's is one of the fastest-growing neurological conditions, affecting 1 in 500 people in the UK.
Many families who have loved ones living with Parkinson’s may wonder if care at home is suitable.
In most cases, care at home may be suitable and can have a significant and positive impact on their wellbeing - enabling them to remain in familiar surroundings and near friends and family.
As with many diseases, uncertainty and stress can exacerbate the symptoms of Parkinson’s and therefore helping a loved one remain where they are most comfortable is paramount to controlling the condition.
At the early stages of the disease, our Care Professionals can provide emotional support, companionship and reassurance through their understanding of the condition. We carefully match every client with a Care Professional who shares similar interests to ensure a strong relationship can be formed.
As symptoms progress, our Care Professionals can support with all aspects of daily living from assistance getting dressed and ready for the day, bathing and personal care to shopping and preparing nutritious meals. In addition, our dedicated office-based team are here to support your family and tailor your loved one's Care Plan as their needs evolve.
Please get in touch with us if you are considering care at home for a loved one.
Knowing we're making a difference is one of the best things about being a Care Professional!
Long-distance relationships are hard, but it's a completely different story when your mum or dad is ageing and you're worried they may need help.
We bridge the gap between distance and peace of mind by offering clients tailored care plans to match their needs. Whether it's a little extra support maintaining independence and a routine, or more specialist care at home, our local Care Professionals are here to help.
Give us a call on 02080225240 if you would like to find out more about our premium quality home care services.
The care we provide is unique in that we don't wear uniforms when visiting clients. We want to remove all barriers so clients feel comfortable as we support them during social events, lunch outings and more.
Helping loved ones maintain mental activity can significantly enhance their quality of life as they age. Like a muscle, the brain needs regular workouts to maintain peak performance. This is crucial for ageing adults who may have fewer opportunities for mental stimulation.
Prioritise their mental health with these steps:
- Regular check-ins: Establish a consistent schedule for communication to provide emotional support and monitor their well-being.
- Active listening: Show genuine care and attentiveness during conversations to validate their feelings.
- Encouraging physical activity: Promote gentle exercises such as walking or stretching for improved mood and well-being.
- Engaging in memory-stimulating activities: Participate in puzzles, memory games, or reminiscing to boost cognitive function.
- Maintaining social connections: Foster visits or calls with loved ones to combat isolation.

📝 Poetry with Jean: Our wonderful volunteer, Jean from King's College Hospital, led a heartwarming poetry session where we reminisced about summer. Together, we crafted a beautiful new poem filled with our favourite summer words.
🎶 Songs and Poems: We enjoyed listening to summertime songs and reciting poems that brought back cherished memories. It was a fun and insightful experience for all!
🎨 Art Therapy with Angela: Angela, our amazing Care Professional and café assistant, hosted an inspiring art therapy workshop. Our creative attendees made stunning collages, describing their masterpieces with words like “love” and “peace.” We even laminated their artwork so they could take it home as a special keepsake.
Thank you to everyone who joined us! Looking forward to more fun and creativity next month!
Stay refreshed and feel your best! Know the signs of dehydration and how to keep hydrated. Keep drinks fun and varied by popping in frozen berries, some cordial, and serve with coloured straws and keep plenty of water in the fridge. 😊
