Day six of !

We couldn't do what we do without the hard work of volunteers like Rosalie. Rosalie works as a Practical Support Volunteer and has volunteered with Life for over 35 years. She spoke to us about what her role is all about.

"I've been volunteering for Life for at least 35 years. I've been treasurer of our local group for many of those years. Initially, I helped run sessions in our Care Centre, doing pregnancy tests and providing skilled listening when this was needed. Providing practical support for clients in the form of baby clothes and equipment has been an important strand of our work here in Wolverhampton for at least 20 years and currently is our main focus.

"I enjoy sourcing and checking equipment such as cots and pushchairs and matching items to the needs of individuals. It's lovely to feel one is making a real difference and helping a mother to provide better for her young family.

"It's hard to choose a 'best moment ' but one was receiving an update and thanks from a post-abortion client a couple of years after I was able to support her through a bad time. It was good to feel I'd helped her."

Thank you Rosalie for all you do!

day four.

Lauren is a new volunteer with us in Fundraising. She's passionate about raising money to support young mums and babies. She offered to answer a few questions about how she has found her time working with Life so far - have a read! πŸ‘‡

What do you enjoy about fundraising?

"I enjoy the changes it can make to society and the teamwork. It is something anyone from any background can become involved in and the more people involved - the better the impact it will have. Everyone participating in fundraising will have their own qualities that they can bring to the team. The more the fundraising is promoted and the more people that are involved the more it will encourage others to join in, volunteer and bring new ideas forward for the fundraising team. The more people involved, the better the ideas and activities will be which means more impact and change."

What would you say to other people interested in becoming a fundraising volunteer?

"I would say - Go for it! You don't know until you try. It can provide so many opportunities and positive experiences for volunteers. What can be more rewarding than having a positive impact on society and knowing what you do can make a change?"

What is your favourite thing about volunteering?

"My favourite thing is helping and supporting others as it can be incredibly rewarding. I have been a volunteer for various charities helping and supporting adults, children, and families who have been homeless such as providing them warm food, clothing etc. I am involved in various volunteering groups at my Church. I also have a Social Care background which inspired me to volunteer for charities which align with my values."
