BREW-TIFUL BROMANCE

SENDS 4 Dad are pleased to announce the start up of our first Brew-tiful Bromance cafes. These will be held at Delapre Abbey and I have attached details of this regarding times, dates and locations. These will be about forming friendships and doing activities that are fun over a free cup of tea or coffee. Think of card games (not gambling), board games, walks, reading, arts and crafts etc. generally activities that will bring joy and have common themes that members of the group will enjoy doing . These will be dad/male carer only sessions and we will be looking to introduce more of these cafes in different locations and dates so watch this space (If you have any suggestions to where these can be held in Northamptonshire, then please do get in touch with us)



BREAKFAST DATES

We now have the dates confirmed for the rest of the year for our breakfasts at Café Track on Northampton Market Square. These are from 9 am on 31st August, 21st September, 26th October, 23rd November and 14th December (this will be our special Christmas one and will be bookable, this will be added to our booking page nearer the time)



10th ANNIVERSARY

From December, we will be celebrating SENDS 4 Dad going for 10 years. We are hoping to do a few special things to mark this occasion including a family seaside coach trip and making the move to charity status which will hopefully open up further funding opportunities. Please do get in touch if you would like to do something to help us mark this occasion or if you know someone that would like to do this.



FUNDING NEWS

Unfortunately, we have heard back from our main grant providers and whilst we have been successful in our application, we will be around £4,000 short for our activities from October onwards. I will be looking at other sources of funding but quite often we will be competing against other causes for limited funds so will not be guaranteed. We are looking for any volunteers that would like to do some fundraising for us with an activity or if you know of any company that would like to sponsor one of our activities then please do get in contact.

Please note that all BBQ food has now been booked for Sunday so I'd you have missed out, you are more than welcome to bring a picnic and join in. More exciting announcements to come including the start of a monthly cafe just for the Dads.

As part of the changeover in coaches there will be a short break for our Sunday sessions. We will resume these on the 16th June

Over the next couple of weekends SENDS 4 Dad have a few events coming up. l

On Saturday 24th Feb we have a limited number of free breakfast for 9am on that day only. To book a place please fo to the link at the bottom of this email.

On Sunday 25th Feb we have our weekly activity club at the Frank Bruno Foundation from 11am to 12 pm. There is no need to book your place for this.

On Saturday 2nd March we have a bowling session at Hollywood bowling in Wellingborough from 2pm. Places are limited and also can be booked on the link below.

On Sunday 3rd March at the same time as our activity club we have a presentation from public health on the subject of self harming. Places for this are limited and we expect this to book up quickly so please use the link below to get your place.

Later on that day, we have our indoor games, arts and crafts family session at Fernie Fields but also we have mums meeting up for a social in the connecting room and they will be looking at further get togethers and events.

Finally we now have confirmed dates for training our first batch of youth mental health first aiders. Spaces will be very limited on this. Training will be on the 6th and 13th July and those undertaking it will need to attend both of the sessions to gain their qualification. For further information, please email - [email protected]

Our family session on Sunday 18th Feb will be extra special as there will be a meeting for mums and female carers to organise their own social events and setting up of their group. The session will be the usual 1pm to 2 pm in the Scouts Building at Fernie Fields.

Don't forget our Sunday activity club at the Frank Bruno Foundation from 11am to 12 pm. We are currently looking for groups and activities that will benefit our dads, male carers and their families and can be have free use of the back room during our session. Contact us for further information.

Booking is now available for our Self Harm Awareness session on the 3rd March. I have already seen the draft for this and it is looking particularly useful for our families. Spaces are limited so please book your place before they go.

SENDS 4 Dad is now a member of Zero Su***de Alliance (ZSA) and will be in their member directory in the new year. If you are not aware of them, they have some free training on their website which does not take long to do. You can access this in the following link: https://zerosu***dealliance.com/training

In the New Year we will be doing more with regards to mental health with a presentation on self harming which is currently being worked on with input from myself. Depending upon how this is received, we will be looking at how this can be delivered, alongside su***de prevention, to members of the family so they can look out any signs on their family members.
