Corby Community Diagnostic Centre is now taking shape after a week of building work.
The centre – which will provide up to 60,000 tests a year once complete - is due to open in the spring next year at the Willowbrook Health Complex in Corby.
The operation involved moving 32 modules into place on an area of cleared ground near the health centre.
The building will house equipment for essential diagnostic tests, helping patients to access these tests more quickly than waiting for a hospital appointment.
It will provide Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) as well as x-ray, echocardiogram and blood testing to lead to faster diagnosis and treatment.
There are currently plans for two CDCs in Northamptonshire. This one and one at Kings Heath to serve the Northampton area.

A caring, kind, and inspirational ward manager, and an outstanding team that supports mothers and their babies with sensitive screening tests, have received DAISY Awards.

Debbie Curtis, Ward Manager of the hospital’s stroke unit, Allebone Ward, was nominated for a DAISY Leader Award by Staff Nurse Mathew Wright.

In his nomination he said: “She has made the last six years feel safe, inclusive and an amazing environment to thrive, support, and be supportive and supported. I would nominate her for a Damehood, but for now, the most wonderful and precious DAISY Award is fitting.”

Matron Emma Perkins, nominated the Antenatal and Newborn Screening and Maternity Services Immunisation Team for a DAISY Team award for the way they support families through newborn screening.

In her nomination she wrote: “The high quality of the screening service at NGH reflects the hard work and professionalism of all the staff. The team must be applauded for their sensitive, compassionate, and individualised care in giving families appropriate counselling and time to make the decision that is best for them.

Well done to Debbie and the amazing Antenatal and Newborn Screening and Maternity Services Immunisation Team on your awards.

Additional specialist support for families who have been through the difficulties of having sick and premature babies is now being delivered at NGH and KGH and at a new community support group.

Neonatal Clinical Psychologist Dr Mel Wiseman has set up the Neonatal Community Support Group and also runs the Neonatal Psychology Service supporting families who have needed neonatal care at both KGH and NGH.

She is working with Family Action Supportive Steps in Wellingborough to offer the Neonatal Community Support Group in the Wellingborough Family Hub in Penrith Drive, Wellingborough - a location between our two hospitals.

The support group sessions are being held on the first and third Friday of each month at the Wellingborough Family Hub from 2.15pm-3.15pm.

There is no need to book and sessions are aimed towards parents of babies aged 0-2 years who have had a neonatal admission to any neonatal unit. All parents are welcome with or without bringing your baby.

To read more about how the service has helped families like Emily and Graeme Newton, from Kettering, Holly Scott and her partner Reece and their twins Darcie and Delilah, from Mawsley, and Sarah White and baby Arabella, from Northampton, go to:

For her birthday, volunteer Adewunmi asked our volunteer services team to get involved with the celebrations by wearing African Batiks that she bought in for the team. Adewunmi also bought in food and treats for the volunteers to enjoy.
She said "The team are so wonderful, always ready to listen. Many people of different cultures work here. This team is carrying us together and they make me feel comfortable."

Happy birthday Adewunmi.

The Euros should be a source of entertainment and joy for us all. But for countless women up and down the country this is not the case.

The Euros began early and research* has shown that domestic abuse incidents increase during times of national sports championships.

🔵 They increase by 26% when England play a football match
🔵 They increase by 38% when the team loses
🔵 They increase by 11% the following day, whether they win or lose

Support for those living with domestic violence can be found by contacting organisations such as Women's Aid.

Local support can be found through Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service or EveDA.org.uk.

Other support can be found with Galop (For LGBTQ People) or Mankind.org.uk for male victims of domestic violence.

Further help and signposting can be found on the Northamptonshire Police website:
