Temple Sowerby CE Primary School
Living for learning: learning for life Welcome to Temple Sowerby School
We're proud to serve the village of Temple Sowerby and its surrounding communities.
We pride ourselves on the school's friendly atmosphere, experienced staff and great learning environment.
Calling all friends and supporters! Asda have recently launched a new scheme supporting primary schools 'Cashpoint for Schools. The scheme is running until the 30th November, and the great news is that you can choose to support Temple Sowerby School as your chosen school as we are registered on the scheme.
Asda are donating £50 to each school that signs up, £1 for each person that selects the school as their designated cause and then a % donation for each shop that person undertakes in -store or online until the end of the scheme!
To get started - sign into the Asda Rewards App. On the homepage scroll down and click onto the section 'Introducing Cash-pot for Schools' (it has a photo of Joe Wicks). You are then able to select your school – our postcode is CA101RZ.
Very importantly - this scheme runs alongside your usual cash-pots and DOES NOT have any effect on your existing cash-pots.

Thank you!
Our Temple Sowerby Tots group is back tomorrow morning, we are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
To mark the end of another busy school year, our Year 6’s had a wonderful morning of adventure at Whinlatter Forest's 'Go Ape' trail yesterday. Also, this morning, all the children from Reception to Year 6 took part in our School Council’s sponsored fun run at Temple Sowerby Cricket Club.
Thank you also to all that attended and supported a very successful Summer BBQ last Friday night. An impressive £700 was raised for the Friends of Temple Sowerby School (FOTSS) funds. Special thank you to those who helped run the event and for all the donated raffle prizes, including Mains Farm Caravan Site, Kings Arms Temple Sowerby, Fetherston Arms Kirkoswald, Morrisons and Cranstons.
We have had a lovely afternoon celebrating the Pre-school children who will be going into Reception in September. We have had a teddy bears picnic along with lots of fun with our teddies.
This morning, the Year One and Two children (with some additional helpers) took part in the Macfarlane Cup. Both teams played well with the Year Two children winning the Cup.
Our Tots group had fun at the teddy bears picnic this morning. We hope you all have a lovely summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in September. 🧸☀️
Wow!! What a brilliant
performance from our amazing children today. They have worked so hard for weeks to perform for you. Seeing them light up tonight in front of you makes all the hard work so worthwhile.
So extremely proud of them all 🌟🥰
Mrs Westley 😁
Thank you to everyone who came to the cake and toy stall. We raised £100 for Ankoma Outreach. There are a small selection of toys in school for any children who missed out. Each toy is priced at 50p.
Also, we still have a few teddy names for £1 each for the chance to win a round the lake trip on Ullswater Steamers for 2 adults and 2 children.
Tomorrow, after school, we have a cake stall in aid of Ankoma Outreach. There will be a selection of delicious cakes, toys for 50p (see photograph) and the opportunity to win a round the lake cruise with Ullswater Steamers for two adults and two children.
All money will go directly to the charity. Once we are back in school in September, Mrs Capstick will share where the money raised has been spent.
It's been a very busy day at Lockerbie Manor. The children have enjoyed den building, Manor Olympics, climbing and more football - the teachers won 5-4!
We had a great day today in Class 1. We had next years Reception for the day and we became pirates! They all got into character and we had so much fun. The day ended with map reading and buried treasure 🍬. You may hear some pirate talk in the days ahead…🏴☠️🦜
This morning, we've been kayaking and canoeing on the lake. We've had lunch and are just about to head out for den-building and Manor Olympics this afternoon. All the children are having fun and the sun has made an appearance!
Our first night at Lockerbie Manor and we've had a successful day of archery, abseiling and games on the field. Lots of very excited children so fingers crossed for a quiet night.
The Year 5 children have had a lovely day at their Tower Wood mini residential. We've done lots of activities, including tree climbing, high ropes challenges and archery, as well as an evening of fun games on the shores of Lake Windermere.
Today, Years 1, 2 & 3 spent the morning at Lowther Castle and what a fabulous morning it was. We are so lucky to live where we do!
Today, we finally got to play our Kwik Cricket tournament and this happened… 🥇
Well done to all the players! You were brilliant. 👏🏻
This afternoon, Reception, Year One and Year Two took part in Action Ants Mini Olympics. Despite being very hot, the children gave their all in each event. We returned to school with lots of medals!
Thank you to everyone who has bought plants from the plant stall and to everyone who has donated plants. We have raised £200 for Ankoma Outreach.
Yesterday, our football team took part in Warcop cup. It was great to see the team support each other and work together. They made the final, only being knocked out in the last minute.
One of our players also received player of the tournament.
Well done to these swimming superstars who won the EVA Elite Swimming Gala this afternoon. 🥇
It was a super event and all the children thoroughly enjoyed competing. Thanks to those who organised it.
The Year 6 children throughout the Eden area have had a wonderful day at Patterdale. We've been doing lots of exciting activities, from archery to ghyll scrambling, as well as making some new friends.
This week, gardening club enjoyed a visit to Acorn Banks National Trust to work with one of their gardeners. We planted salad leaves to grow at home. We are really looking forward to developing our link with the gardeners at Acorn Bank next year!
Playground Proms, who visited school earlier this week, have a pop up show after school on Friday in Penrith.
The pre-school and Reception children have had a fantastic day at the dinosaur park. We were all very brave walking amongst all of the big dinosaurs. We listened to a dinosaur story, dug for fossils, hunted for fairies and played in the park and soft play. We have some very tired children on the bus returning to school.
This afternoon, we were very lucky to be joined by Playground Proms for our very own concert. Not only did we get to listen to some amazing music but we also learnt about instruments and composers.
This afternoon, in gardening club, the children have been busy planting a sensory bed. This includes some of the plants we got with our gardening vouchers. Doesn't it look great!
The plant stall for Ankoma Outreach is back with lots more donated plants.
Tonight, our football team played in the King’s Meaburn Cup. They played some great football and very narrowly missed out on getting into the final. Well done to all players. ⚽️👏🏻
