Today some of our KS1 children attended a football tournament hosted by our friends at Greystoke School. All of the children played fantastically well and demonstrated some great skills, brilliant teamwork and determination. A super time was had by all. We are all incredibly proud of the team representing the school today! Thank you to coach Miss Holme and to all parents who assisted with transport or popped by to cheer the team on.😀
This week in DT, Year 5/6 finished their amazing labyrinth marble mazes! They have worked hard designing their packaging, measuring, sawing and sanding. We all thought they looked fantastic but to double check we invited some Year 1/2 children to come and test out our games and they agreed!
Year 5/6 had a brilliant afternoon on Wednesday at the Penruddock School Rounders competition. They played superbly as a team with some amazing fielding and batting! After winning 3 matches in the first round, we went through to the next round and ended the afternoon with 4th place! Well done everyone and thank you to Penruddock School and Keswick students for hosting.
Nursery and Reception had a great time during their ’Under the Sea’ themed Forest School session with Branch Out this morning! The children enjoyed searching for natural materials to enhance their artwork, fishing for under the sea animals, painting outdoors, using clay, hammering leaves to make prints and cooking over the campfire. Thank you Hayley and Ella for a very enjoyable session!

Year 1 and 2 have had a FANTASTIC day at Strickley Farm. We arrived and listened to the Bog Baby story with a delicious snack before heading out. We had a fun and bumpy trailer ride down to the bluebell woods. We looked for spittlebugs, saw a frog, discovered deer beds and much more! We then enjoyed some pond dipping and drawing time next to the pond before heading back for lunch. To finish off our day of fun we made our very own Bog Babies to take home. We will certainly all sleep well tonight.
What a fantastic time we all had today at our family lunch. Everyone enjoyed their cheesy bagels or fish and chips and of course pudding! Thank you to all who attended. We are looking forward to the next one already 😊
Last photo drop from today’s adventures and to top off a great stay at St John’s in the Vale. It’s such a special place to visit and this group of children were such a pleasure to be around. We’ve laughed and smiled together from start to finish and it has made every bit of planning (and re-planning!) worthwhile. Sleep well tonight everyone and have a great half-term🥰
All packed up and off for a walk. Weather is looking good for the morning.
All up and having a good breakfast served by the Breakfast Duos before another day of adventures. Lots of happy children. 😊
Morning! Our cheerful Breakfast Duos team are up early preparing breakfast for the rest of us who are having a little lie in before breakfast is served.😉 All having a super time. 😊
A really lovely evening has been had by us all. A delicious meal, served by our Super Supper team of children, followed by a walk out in the fresh air. We managed to fit in a game of rounders before returning for showers and then board games, hot chocolate and a story in our pjs.
We made the most of a drier spell! We got wrapped up and made the most of some fresh air and the beautiful area surrounding us. Natural cocktails, animal collages and taking some time out to just sit quietly, appreciating where we are. Just what we all needed 😍
Walking, indoor orienteering fun whilst avoiding the heavy rain! Great team work and map reading skills. 👏👏😊
The floods didn’t stop us! All unpacked and settled in. Lots of happy children about to begin some indoor orienteering 😊
Edit: School will open to children in Y1-6 ONLY from 1pm. Please ensure children have had lunch before they arrive. After school club will not run this evening.
Y3/4 Residential will still go ahead as planned.
SCHOOL CLOSED!! We have been unable to get enough staff into school to be able to operate safely.
Year 3 and 4 Parents - I will update about the residential when we have had more time to assess the situation.
As always, our children, staff and families safety is paramount. Take care all.
This morning we welcomed Sarah from Eden Animal Rescue to Skelton School to deliver an assembly about the work the charity do in our local area! The children were very interested to hear about how to be safe around different animals, the different animals they have at the centre and what we can do to support the charity! Four of our Year 5 pupils then presented Sarah with a cheque for £184 after their charity bake sale success! Well done girls - what excellent representatives of our school.
Look at all these stars this week! 🌟🌟Lots of children recognised for being so kind, caring, hard working and giving lots of effort. We’ve even had double stars and a Skelton School record-breaking triple star! We have also had a super busy week of house sports! Year 6s from each team were awarded with the trophies for each sport. Great sportsmanship and effort from so many children this week! Well done!
Nursery and Reception children have been battling against the Big Bad Wolf! The fairy tale this week has been The 3 Little Pigs and the children have been enjoying building houses for the pigs out of bricks, straw and sticks. Beware!
Don't forget it's PUDFEST this Sunday 5th May!🙂
Reception and Nursery are really enjoying their new Fairy Tale topic. So far they have planted seeds as part of their Jack and the Beanstalk learning and this week they have been busy making bread as part of their Little Red Hen theme. Everyone helped which meant everyone tasted the bread (unlike the story) and it’s safe to say it was delicious! 😋
This week‘s fabulous Stars! Well done everyone 🤩👏😊✨
Please support 4 of our children on Sunday 28th April 1-3pm at Skelton Chapel if you can. They have planned a pop-up cafe and bake sale to raise money for Eden Animal Rescue. I know that they’d love to see you all there to help them to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity. Well done girls and good luck with it all.😊
What a fantastic afternoon we had at the tag rugby festival yesterday! A great afternoon full of rugby, fun and great teamwork and sportsmanship. The children represented Skelton School fantastically and played some superb rugby with some great passages of play! Thank you to Eden Valley Sports Partnership and to the QEGS students who refereed the matches!
We may have had a shorter week at school but we certainly weren’t short of Stars! ‘Being my Best’ is our theme for PSHE this half-term and these children have certainly started the term off aiming high - well done!👏👏😊❤️
Thank you to Vicky and Adrian from Cyclewise for carrying out our Bikeability Level 1 and 2 training this week for Year 4 and 5. A huge well done to all of the children who took part. An enormous well done also to you all for the praise you received from the instructors. You were kind, patient, polite, listened well and made so much progress because of your excellent attitudes. Fantastic ambassadors for our school - well done everybody!
Morning everyone! Hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter break. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning from 8.45. Breakfast club will be open as usual from 8am for those who need it. Enjoy your last day at home and we’ll see you all tomorrow 😊
