I have brought back a huge amount of new information from the scar conference in Montpellier. There were so many interesting speakers, including surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, people who specialise in creams and gels, or compression garments or hands on treatment.
The country that seems to be streeets ahead on research is Belgium and this is a great website that gives really sound advice……highly recommended!

This is a great article in the British Journal of Nursing about scar management.
Referenced is Luc Teot who has done a lot of research on how to prevent a body forming too much scar tissue. He is one of the leads at the conference I am going to in Montpellier in September ....can't wait!

I’ve just completed a wonderful course on ‘Everything C-Section’ with Hannah Poulton, who is the guru on womens’ health after a C-Section birth.
She runs a specialist clinic in Leicestershire.
Most women leave hospital after a C-Section with an abdominal scar, a new baby weighing an average 8lbs and very little advice about caring for themselves, other than to get lots of rest and not lift anything heavy!!
There is lots of new research and lots of advice about caring for yourself after your C-Section.

Breast Cancer Awareness month……
For me, every month is breast cancer awareness month, working gently over and around those chest scars to help increase range of movement in the torso, shoulder girdle and arm. The cording that can form between a mastectomy scar and the top of the arm can so quickly and easily be released. It is something that really can be improved.
In the last couple of months I have been approached by the Worcester Breast Cancer Unit to look at ways of providing support to those at the post treatment stage. Watch this space…more to follow.

🌼Apologies for radio silence…. both my husband and I were struck down with Covid and dragged ourselves around for 5 weeks(the fatigue was awful). Not a nice experience but we are both back to normal and fighting fit again.
My first clinic days were in Bucks last week and fully booked…how lovely to be back and working again!

Here are some before and after photos of a scar after the removal of a melanoma. I treated this client 6 times over a period of 8 months, just fitting in with what time she could spare.

Do you have a Caesarian scar that doesn't feel 'quite right'? Some gentle scar work can help with super-sensitivity, pulling or feeling of disconnect between upper and lower body.
Maybe you have a epidural site that still 'feels the needle'? It is not that unusual and one session is usually all it takes to ease that discomfort.

A scar in any area of your body can have an effect on another part of your body……. The effects are far reaching. If you have a chronic problem in one area, have a think about any scars you have somewhere else. They might be connected!

Do you have a knee or hip replacement that isn’t functioning quite the way you hoped? It may have scar tissue beneath the skin restricting the range of movement. Gentle scar tissue release can help ease some of these adhesions and increase the range of movement, even years after the surgery
