Tops Day Nurseries: Prince Rock

Today preschool have been really interested in animals, we spoke about what our favourite animals are during group time and wanted to draw our favourite animals. We had so much fun drawing our animals and spoke about what foods that the different animals eat. We have even planned to do dear Zoo as our book of the week for next week.
We are so excited!

Parents take note! OPSS have issued Safety Alert to warn the risks of water beads. Water beads can pose a serious risk of:

a) gastrointestinal blockage requiring surgery or
b) asphyxiation (suffocation or choking).

Today, in preschool we have really enjoyed creating our butterfly pictures. We mixed lots of paints together and we learnt that when we add white to the paint it makes it lighter. We really enjoyed folding our page over and we were very excited to see what picture we had created. This helped develop our pincer grip when painting with the paintbrush.
We had so much fun and we can't wait for you to see our pictures!

Alongside our tree planting with Ecologi, we are also purchasing a carbon offset amount equal to the amount we produce as a company.
This month we have offset 4 tonnes of CO2eq. This brings our total offset amount to 103!

Our sister nursery, Tops Christchurch, was delighted to welcome local MP Christopher Chope to their setting. During his visit, he engaged with the children and the Christchurch team, discussing the vital role of the Early Years sector and upcoming childcare initiatives. He even joined the children in planting seeds, fostering a love for nature and sustainability! 🌱

We have received a certificate to say thank you as we are taking part in "Emotional Coaching", an EEF funded project for our pre school children.

This project is an approach that helps us,as teachers, to better support children in understanding different emotions.

All pre school parents have been sent an email explaining if you do not want your child to take part, please let us know by the end of today.

We are always striving for the best for our children and we are very excited to be taking part in this exciting opportunity.

The Investigators and Explorers were taking part in toothbrushing. We seen that our new toothbrushes has a picture on them and we spoke about what picture our peers had. This then led us to talk about healthy and unhealthy food. Some of us said fruit and vegetable were healthy and they eat some at home.

This week pre-school have been retelling the story of the 'Three little pigs'. We all worked together to help each other build the tent to see if the big bad wolf could blow it down! We then enjoyed our story bag of 'The three little pigs' where we helped retell the story really well! We discussed that bricks would make the strongest house.

We really pride ourselves on using respectful care and teaching the children about internet safety.
For our children we seek permission from them to enable us to take thier photos. The children smile,nod or say yes giving us permission so we can send you updates on their day.
Today, the children took a keen interest in Jamie taking photos and wanted to take some of themselves.

Our song this week is Patter cake bakers man. We have created a bakery in our role play and created our own current buns at the play dough table. Both Investigators and Explorers had so much fun together creating their own buns. Jamie even sang 5 currant buns to us whilst we made them.

We are learning all about our Golden Rules with our new children.

We are learning to use our listening ears and our walking feet .
Goldie our golden rules puppet hid a red car and we had to follow Kally's instructions and guess what ?
We found the red car!
We were amazing and Goldie was smiling when we got back to Nursery!

We have been so lucky this morning to have two police officers come and visit us.
They spoke to the children and took their fingerprints and gave them a certificate and stickers.
It's important that the children know that the Police are their to help us!

Last month we planted 162 trees with Ecologi, as part of our initiative to plant a tree for every enrolment. This brings our total amount of trees planted to 6,392🌳

In Explorers and Investigators we try to build on independence, especially at meal times, we are encouraged to use our spoons and forks to feed ourselves and jugs to pour our own drinks.

This week pre-school noticed that our peas had grown and were interested in seeing what they looked and tasted like. We all worked together to pick them and take the peas out of their pods. Wa talked about the different sizes of the peas, the colour and the taste. We also said they looked like the beanstalk in 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

We have been using playdough today to help build our hand strength. We have used black playdough as, " black" is our word from our vocabulary flower.

We’re thrilled to share that Cheryl Hadland, Founder and Chair of Tops Day Nurseries, was at Westminster yesterday to collect the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer Award. We’re incredibly proud to announce that Tops Day Nurseries ranked 9th! 🏆

During the event, we were honoured to have Kate Ridley Moy MP deliver an inspiring speech in person, while The Baroness joined us remotely with her own impactful address, adding even more significance to the occasion.

This award is a fantastic recognition of our commitment to apprenticeships and supporting career development within our sector. A huge thank you to everyone at Tops for your hard work and dedication that made this achievement possible!

Over the weekend Tops Parkstone Celebrated their incredible Garden Re-opening. Thank you to the wonderful staff who worked hard to make a stimulating and exciting environment for our little ones. Also to the Deputy Mayor who attended and our lovely families who came to visit and join in on the fun.
