Freshlings had the Pre-School (Ladybird) Graduation today with a lovely picnic to celebrate all the children who are leaving to go to school 😊

The amazing women at Freshlings Nursery have been nominated for a West Country Women Award in the The Phoenix Award category.
We have an inspirational team of Nursery Practitioners and support staff based at Freshlings Nursery at the University of Plymouth. In a sector that is facing issues in retention and recruitment nationally, this team of West-country Women have shown up every single day, providing the very best love, support and education to the children in our care. The amazing Chef and Catering Assistant also go above and beyond to make sure the children are well nourished with all dietary requirements taken into account, on top of their usual day jobs- which truly demonstrates how these Women collectively put the needs of the children first.

Our little Freshlings celebrated Valentine's Day by doing many fun and love filled activities today 🥰

We celebrated 'Pancake day' today at Freshlings by doing activities related to pancakes and making pancakes which were enjoyed by our little Freshlings as their morning snack 🥞

We have had a successful training week! 🙌
All our staff have completed their Pediatric First Aid, we have done Safeguarding training, training in promoting children's positive behaviour in the setting and this morning we sorted out our rooms for September.
We finished the week in team building and successfully escaped at Escape rooms 😎
Our staff team are feeling refreshed and ready for the new term 😃

Our team has been working hard for the last few months to create a curriculum unique to Freshlings in which our staff provide lots of experiences and activities so your child can progress in all areas of learning.

Freshlings Nursery has been celebrating King's Coronation week by doing fun different activities including having a garden party with some delicious cream tea and our little Freshlings doing a parade! 👑💙🤍❤️👑
The nursery is also fully decorated in banners, bunting and a lovely balloon garland which was created by our very own, highly talented teammate, Jade 😃

❗️❗️𝓐𝓷𝓷𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓽❗️❗️
You may have seen announced in the Spring budget that the ratio for staff-to-child will increase from 1:4 to 1:5 for two-year-olds in England from September 2023- subject to parliamentary procedure.

Although this change would align us with Scotland and other countries, the team at Freshlings Nursery are committed to maintaining our focus on the quality of care and education we deliver, so as a result, we will not increase the level of children in the care of one Practitioner. This will enable us to continue delivering our curriculum, designed to develop Creative, Kind, Independent, Curious and Confident children who are ready to continue their love of learning at school, without any detrimental impact on quality. Research evidence suggests that increasing the ratios will negatively impact the children’s experiences, and we are not prepared to jeopardize this in any way.
