Our Young Adult carers recently had their first session of Ecotherapy! We took a group of 6 YACs plus our volunteer to Poole Farm, where we fed the animals (our favourite was Piggy Smalls), took part in a blindfolded fox walk, measured trees, grounded our senses in nature and finished the session with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows around the fire. The YACs really enjoyed the session and are looking forward to the next four weeks.
Mannameadโs Art for Well-being group have been busy creating beautiful and unique pieces of art using recycled fabric. We think they look great at the Hub!
โ๏ธ As part of the we're supporting the petition calling for urgent review and reform Carer's Allowance to increase financial support for unpaid carers, remove barriers and reduce size and number of overpayments.
Better Futures is our service for adults aged 18+ with a learning disability and/or autism. We provide advice and information on day to day issues, and help individuals to develop skills that further independence through groups, workshops and activities.
Age Positive is our local service for over 65's, supporting them to reduce social isolation and frailty. Regular sessions can include social groups, exercise classes, arts and crafts, trips out and about and more!
Advice Plymouth is your local drop-in service for information, signposting and advice on issues such as welfare benefits, consumer issues, employment and more!
It is with such sadness that we say goodbye to Phil, a long-standing volunteer of our Advice Plymouth team. Phil sadly passed away unexpectedly on the 21st of April, and as he is laid to rest today we send our deepest sympathies to his sister, Jackie, his brother, Paul, and all of his family and friends. Phil will be dearly missed.

VETERAN CARERS PROJECT WORKER
Run by veterans and their families, the hub collaborates with various organisations in the city. We provide social activities, peer support and mentoring, information, advice, and guidance on employment, housing support, mental well-being, unpaid carers support, and welfare benefits. Dedicated support for unpaid carers.
Role Summary:

Sensory Solutions in partnership with Tamara, visited Buckland Abbey yesterday with our Deaf clients and provided a British Sign Language Interpreter. We had a garden tour with the Head Gardener in the morning, and after lunch had a tour of the house. One service user who is nearly 80 explained that he had visited the house a few times since he was a child but had never had a BSL interpreter, and did not know the history or the significance of the house until now!
Better Futures had a trip to the Aquarium last week, all our service users had a great time seeing all the fish, and other seacreatures! ๐งโโ๏ธ๐๐ก๐

We (The Young Adult Carers Team) just wanted to come on here to thank everyone who donated towards our recent Young Carers Action Day. Despite the rain we still made ยฃ200 which was amazing considering it was our first one and it was pouring down!!!
