After the wettest and coldest month imaginable, the boats are finally on the water, rigged and ready to go! ⛵️

Our first sail was on Tuesday evening with a handful of volunteers. Although the sun was shining, there was still a nasty nip in the air, so many layers were required!

We are looking forward to our first club session of the year tomorrow evening with our regular members.

If you would like more information about how you can get out on the water, please either text on 07712 657610 or email [email protected]

Thank you so much to Mayflower Marina for the lovely write up!

There are going to be a lot of changes over the next 6 months, but hopefully, with your support, we will fight this recession and come out on top.

🥰For as long as we have money in the bank, we will always be there with welcoming arms for those who need us the most.🥰

Thursday 18th April is planned to be the first Thursday evening sailing session and I can't wait!! ⛵

Trustee’s News: Farewell to Simon!

After 12 years of dedication and commitment, our Horizons Chief Executive, Simon, has decided that it is time for a change and he will be leaving the team at the end of October.

Simon joined Horizons in 2011 as a Senior Instructor, then became Chief Instructor, and has done a brilliant job leading the organisation as Chief Executive for the last 6 years.

Under Simon’s leadership, Horizons has expanded and he leaves a fine fleet of boats maintained to his very high standards. Simon’s sailing and organisational skills are remarkable and his departure leaves a big void that will need to be filled.

Our team of Staff, Trustees, Members and Volunteers would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to Simon! We wish him all the very best, and look forward to hearing about his new adventures!

Dr James Hill
Chair of Trustees

Every bit of information they receive will hopefully make boating as safe and inclusive as possible.

Thank you!

Help us create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

We’re calling for as many people within the boating community to complete one of two RYA Safeguarding Surveys, aimed at children and young people, and adults.

After a bit of a wet and wild sail last year, we are starting to get the ball rolling for this year's Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit.

This year it'll take place on Saturday 17th June.

As always, we will be using our 4 Hawk20 keelboats, and wondered if there are any other budding yacht owners who would like to enter their boat for Horizons too?

If you are interested in entering for us, please let us know by emailing Lois at [email protected]

Thank you! ⛵️

We have had a fun-filled New Year so far 🥳

For our Winter Youth Group, we have enjoyed a visit to the Theatre to see, Pinocchio and had the RNLI come to our office to explain the importance of keeping safe on the water. On Saturday we're really looking forward to going to the Aquarium 🐠

While the children have been enjoying themselves, Simon and Lois have been lying under the Hawks scraping off old antifoul ready for a fresh coat to be popped on for the summer season. ⛵

We have also celebrated Simon being awarded a trophy in recognition of Endeavour and Involvement in the Sport of Sailing. This was awarded due to his long-term commitment in helping with events within the Port of Plymouth. ⛵🚤
