All forms of loss can be emotionally devastating, whether itโs the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or a job. Loss is personal and can affect us in different ways. It can be hard for us to know how to cope with how weโre feeling. Research has suggested that, in some people, grief comes in stages or as a cycle. ๐
๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ฎ๐น โ feelings of shock, disbelief, panic, or confusion
๐๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ฟ โ blaming yourself, blaming others and hostility are all common feelings and behaviours
๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป โ feeling tired, hopeless, helpless, like you have lost perspective, isolated, or needing to be around others
๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด โ feelings of guilt often accompany questions like, "If only I had done more"
๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ โ acknowledging the implications of the loss and the new circumstances, and preparing to move forward
These stages do not always appear in the same order for everybody, and some people experience some stages and not others. It is common to move forwards and backwards through the stages in your own way and at your own pace. Some people may experience grief outside of the cycle altogether.

This time of year can often be particularly stressful for many different reasons. Spending time in nature can help boost our mental wellbeing and physical health and can also help make us feel more grounded.
Taking a mindful walk in nature can:
๐ณ Improve your mood
๐ฑ Help clear your head and allow you to focus on the present moment
๐ฟ๏ธ Reduce feelings of stress or anger
๐ Help you take time out and feel more relaxed
๐ Improve your confidence and self-esteem
๐พ Reduce loneliness
๐ฆ Help you feel more connected to nature
๐ Help you be more active
๐ฆ Improve your physical health
Practicing mindfulness whilst walking can help you manage thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Try to focus your attention on your many senses. You might notice the breeze against your skin, the feeling of your feet or hands against different textures on the ground or nearby surfaces, and the different smells around you.
We hope you have a lovely Sunday, however, you choose to spend it. ๐

Are you feeling overwhelmed?
When our abilities to manage our responsibilities and pressures become too much, our overall mental health can suffer, and can in some cases lead to further anxieties.
There are many different techniques and strategies that can help us to better cope with demands and different methods can be more effective for some of us, than others.
๐น Focus your attention on what you can realistically achieve โ often we can place unnecessary additional pressures on ourselves and struggle with feeling like a failure when we can't achieve them.
๐น Practice a grounding technique โ 5 4 3 2 1 method
๐น Ask for help โ a problem shared is always a problem halved! Friends, family, and colleagues can help us put our stresses into perspective and offer further practical solutions.
If you are continually struggling to cope, please reach out and ask for help. ๐ devonmind.com/helplines
