Tell a story and it can be brought to life! From a haunted shipwreck to a litter monster. These wonderful creations were brought to life by High View pupils and all from listening to someone's story. What a wonderful idea. Gemma and Shelley came by to listen to our stories and memories and gave us a chance to talk about archives and what they mean to us. Take a Part have wonderful opportunities for residents of Efford, Whtleigh and Mount Gould to get involved in creating a new archive using peoples voices. If you want to get involved get in touch with Gemma: [email protected]

Take a Part have been fortunate enough to be awarded new funds from the The National Lottery Heritage Fund to run a second iteration of Travelling Museum with a more focussed look at community archives and how they can collect and represent community stories in the best way. We are pleased to say that Gem and Shelley will be visiting Efford Timebank this morning to sit and chat with us so we can share any of our stories with them. Timebank South West Timebank South West

Feel Good Friday: A Local Leap Toward Health Equity in Plymouth

Last month, Timebank South West joined a host of incredible health and well-being charities, alongside local GP surgeries, and NHS services at The Plot in Stonehouse, Plymouth for a one day event set to tackle health inequalities. The event, “Feel Good Friday”, was a vibrant health and well-being fair designed to knock down barriers to healthcare access, orchestrated by the Plymouth Deep End Practices, a network of GP surgeries providing healthcare in Plymouth’s most deprived areas.

The fair was a melting pot of incredible charities, support groups, health care initiatives and education programmes, from tackling mental health issues and promoting healthy eating, to encouraging exercise through cycling and support using the NHS app to book appointments. "Feel Good Friday" was all about showing locals the power of preventative care and the wealth of support available right in their neighbourhood.

“We have to do things very differently to be able to provide the level of health care that people truly need,” said one of the event organisers, Liz Brimacombe. “Going to the hospital is actually not the answer. The answer is for us to be here preventing it happening. That’s what we’re trying to do.”

Their goal was clear: help people take their health into their own hands, stop problems before they start, and reduce the strain on the NHS by working in collaboration with the fantastic resources already in our communities.

The team behind Feel Good Friday hope to see the event replicated across the country, providing education, empowerment, and support where it’s needed most.

(which will eventually lead to us making our own community archive)
⬇️⬇️Please see the flyer below ⬇️⬇️ They are starting with a trip to The Box archives on 29th May and have 20 spaces to fill for this. Email Gem if you are interested in taking part. Her details are on the flyer.

We are very sad to say ‘see you around’ to our Age Positive Project Coordinator - Kirsty.

Since joining the team in April 2022, Kirsty has been a key player in the Timebank Team. Her positive attitude and communication skills have created great opportunities for Timebank and it’s members through the Age Positive Project while her level-headed outlook has brought great balance to the team. Helping us to maintain focus through a difficult period and making herself available to go to for advice and guidance.

She will be missed by us all. Read more here:

Nostalgic golden years of Farley's Rusk factory . Do you remember the factory, or better still, the smell!? I do :-)
In 1931, the Farley Rusk Factory moved their production line to splendid new premises on what was then on edge of town, on the Torr Estate. Described as a ‘model factory in a garden location’, there was great interest even among former employees who were all warmly invited to tea and a tour of the new development.
