The Sanctuary Trust

‘A practical expression of God’s Love’. Homelessness relief across Greater Manchester & North Wales. Reg Charity No. 1020295

Sanctuary Trust is a registered charity working with homelessness and homeless related poverty and emergency homeless issues. God's Sanctuary was the vision of Sheila Halsall after seeing the level of homelessness Rochdale and later the homelessness Conwy and the substance misuse such as Drugs and Alcohol.

Another brilliant cooking lesson taught by Steven John Rawcliffe at our rapid relief hostel, Jannat house. Helping the lads to learn new skills which will benefit them once they move into their own property. Well done everyone who took part and the end result looked amazing.

Celebrating 6 months of recovery!

Last week, Sanctuary Trust Staff supported one of our hostel tenants as he completed the 10k Media City Run.

Earlier this year, Halsall House completed a 5k run in Heaton Park, raising an impressive £550. This time, with the support of our dedicated staff members, Stephen Young and Claire Jefferies, they have raised over £150 for recreational activities and recovery support at Halsall House.

Completing the 10k run is not just a physical achievement; it’s a powerful symbol of their resilience and determination to overcome addiction. It embodies Sanctuary Trust's values: To Act, To Respect, and To Empower.

Our resident faced immense challenges, both physically and mentally, but with the unwavering support of our staff and community, they conquered this goal. The funds raised will directly benefit the residents of Halsall House, further aiding their recovery journeys.

We continue to support our residents, regardless of the obstacles they face, and remain dedicated to empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

Well Done to all who participated, donated and supported this fundraiser. And Congratulations on 6 months of sobriety! 💪🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

There's still time to donate online: https://justgiving.com/campaign/mediacityrun

Congratulations Angie, very well deserved winner of the Care in the Community Award 2024! X 🎉🥳

Contributions to Care in the Community Award 2024

WoW first met Angie McManus of
Angie's Angels back in 2018, and the group has been nominated for their care, kindness and compassion.

Angie is a pillar of the community and goes above and beyond to support others through the voluntary group that helps homeless members of the community.

They also assist veterans to ease the transition into permanent housing by providing furniture and household items.

Angie’s Angels gives away clothes, toiletries, and other essential items to our most vulnerable members of our community.

They also arrange group meetings, sessions and events for females in and around
Rochdale as well.

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the Care in the Community Award 2024 goes to Angie McManus of Angie’s Angels.

As we work to relieve and prevent homelessness & provide safe roofs over our clients’ heads, we also recognize that the wider world is home to many.

It is essential that we not only take action to aid those we support, but also to adopt an active response to decreasing carbon emissions, as we look after people, and the world we live in.

The Sanctuary Trust is awarded a team of business experts and funding to tackle social and environmental challenges!

The Sanctuary Trust has had the impact of its current services and future ambitions recognised with its selection as a 2024 Weston Charity Awards winner.

The award gives us the chance to invest in The Sanctuary Trust's future with strategic planning support from a dedicated team of four business experts, thanks to pro bono charity Pilotlight and a core grant of £6,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation.

The Sanctuary Trust was chosen from over 180 applicants, all of which are frontline charities delivering youth, welfare, community or environment services in the North of England, the Midlands and Wales. Other local/regional charities to be selected are SOS-UK, the Welsh Dee Trust and the Sub-Sahara Advisory Panel.

Our Co-Chief Executive Officer, John Wigley has said: “It’s been a really challenging couple of years, the need for our services has increased. We’ve had to rise to the extra demand and cope with increasing costs. Regardless, the Sanctuary Trust has ambitious goals to take action against homelessness, setting a new standard of being compassionate landlords in North Wales. We are thankful to work with fellow business leaders to develop a business plan and pursue these ambitious goals, ensuring that our plans are both sustainable and effective.”

Record breaking today with 79 people enjoying our cooked breakfast. A massive well done to all the volunteers who work tirelessly to keep this project running smoothly.

Every year the Sanctuary Trust opens its doors to the college students from Rochdale Sixth form college.

This year, they helped us decorate a staircase in the Reaching Out Centre with loads of helping hands. They created the mural with decorated hand prints each containing an inspirational message for the staff working in the ROC and for the clients we support.

We love to see community involvement from local schools, community groups and organisations, especially when they're passionate about encouraging and upholding our mission of taking action against homelessness. Thank you for your visit!

Any help is appreciated for our lifeline project to the hungry in North Wales. Donate today: https://justgiving.com/campaign/conwyfoodbank

The stark reality of our continuously empty shelves:

Our shelves at Conwy Food Bank are almost completely empty. After ten years of servicing the community, the sight is more and more common, as the community becomes more and more hungry and in need. We are facing a crisis like never before.

Food-banks are becoming a fragile resource. The prospect of having to turn away families in desperate need is becoming all too real.

We are at a crossroads, and we need your help more than ever. Without immediate and substantial support, our ability to provide this vital service is at risk. We implore you to act now. Every can, every box, every contribution can make a monumental difference.

Your donation, no matter how small, can provide someone with the food and hope our community so desperately needs.

Please, help us keep our doors open and our shelves stocked. Your generosity and kindness are the lifeline that keeps Conwy Food Bank alive.

Thank you for your unwavering support. See our FAQ for more details on how to donate, or donate online today: https://justgiving.com/campaign/conwyfoodbank
