"Tricia!! I gained 2 pounds overnight, what's going on?!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I often get asked this by slimmers, and the first thing Iโ€™ll say is, "Don't panic, it's not fat!"

How do I know this? Well, in order to gain 1 pound of extra fat you need to consume 3,500 calories MORE than your recommended daily allowance (which is 2,000 for a woman and 2,500 for a man). So, to gain 2 pounds of fat overnight a woman would need to have eaten 9,000 calories in one day! Pretty difficult, hey?

So, if it's not fat, what caused that gain? Here are 7 possible reasons:

1. You ate salty food yesterday. Sodium causes the body to hold on to water, causing temporary weight gain. Keep drinking plenty of water and it will be gone in a few hours.
2. You ate too many carbs. Your body will have replenished its glycogen stores. For every gram of glycogen the body stores, it also stores 3 grams of water! Go back on plan and that glycogen and water will soon be gone.
3. You weighed in earlier than usual, so there's probably still some food left in your stomach.
4. You ate later than usual last night. See number 3.
5. You need to "go". This weight plays a huge role in body weight fluctuations. It's temporary and will sort itself out soon enough!
6. You had a tough workout yesterday. This can cause temporary water retention and will pass when you drink your 2.25l of water.
7. Ladies, it's coming up to that time of month. Mother Nature is often really mean to us around this time and our bods retain water.

So stop panicking! Unless you ate 9,000 calories yesterday, I can safely say you have nothing to worry about! Just stick to the plan and keep going!

Is it easy losing weight?
Far from it

Is it easy being bigger?
Far from it

Choose your hard wisely!

Losing weight isnโ€™t just about what you see on the scales but itโ€™s also about being healthy and fit

I know from losing 5 stone I can now do things without getting out of breath
Itโ€™s given me a new lease of life

Itโ€™s about looking into the mirror and feeling confident with what you see

Itโ€™s not about how everyone else sees you, you have to feel comfortable and confident within yourself

*Food is Fuel - not a measure of your morality.*

Remember, food is never about morality. Reorganising the language you use around eating is really important. โœ…

Scrap the idea of โ€˜goodโ€™ days and โ€˜badโ€™ days. Ditch the โ€˜Iโ€™ve been sooooo BADโ€™ messages you feedback to yourself. Instead, have โ€˜on planโ€™ and โ€˜off planโ€™ days. We can also PLAN to have an โ€˜off planโ€™ day - which means youโ€™re always in control. โœ…

Food is just fuel - like putting petrol in the car. ๐Ÿš™ We never feel guilty for needing to stop for petrol - just like we should never feel bad about putting good-quality fuel in our bodies in order to expend great-quality energy. โœ…

Likewise, thereโ€™s no need to overfill your carโ€™s petrol tank - when the dial says โ€˜fullโ€™ do you carry on filling up extra bottles of petrol to carry around on your backseat? Of course not. ๐Ÿ˜€ You donโ€™t need to - because we know that the next time the tank is running low, there will be a service station handy to fill up again.โœ…

Food is the same - we are lucky enough to live in a time and country where there are no food shortages - you donโ€™t have to overeat or fill up on extra calories 'just in case'. Simply eat what your body needs for the day ahead of you. This is the key to healthy weight maintenance.โœ…

Thank you to Michelle Toner for this FANTASTIC post!

Here are some tips to help ensure you take enough water on board:

โ€ขWake up first thing in the morning and drink a glass or two of water โ€“ most people are least hydrated in the morning!

โ€ขCarry a water bottle around with you all day! Donโ€™t leave your house without it and simply refill every time itโ€™s empty.

โ€ขDrink 500mL (1/2 litre) of water 30 minutes before meals โ€“ specific scientific studies have shown that this supports weight loss.

โ€ขDrink water when you think youโ€™re hungry. If you feel a hunger pang between meals, pour yourself a tall glass of fresh drinking water first to see if youโ€™re dehydrated. Sometimes people think theyโ€™re hungry when really, theyโ€™re just thirsty.

My most honest and personal story hit the head lines of Real People magazine, I never thought I would be where I am today.

With hard work and determination I lost 7 stone. It completely changed my whole look on life and food. It allows me to enjoy running around after my little one, do things I would never have before.

Giving things up is not forever itโ€™s short term and in time I have learnt to enjoy the things I love in moderation. I am now addicted to online shopping for clothes for myself instead of binging on the crisps and chocolate.

I spent most of my life with eating disorders of some kind or another Diabulimia, Bulimia, over eating, then starving myself!

My weight reached 19.5st at my biggest! It took me several years to then lose some weight!

When I found the 1:1 Diet I was 13.4st and desperately unhappy!

I was still fit and went to the gym 5 days a week and did yoga!
I started on step 5 due to being a Type 1 Diabetic, moving down to Step 3 over a few weeks!

My weight loss was great and I wished Iโ€™d found the plan sooner!

My weight is now 9st 11 the slimmest Iโ€™ve been in 30 years and my health has improved dramatically!

My Diabetes is so well controlled and my insulin need has gone from over 30 units a day to just 14!

My bloods are that of someone without Diabetes!

My Fibromyalgia is in remission and I havenโ€™t felt better!

Iโ€™m looking forward to living again and starting back at the gym too...

โœจAm I slim yet?
*asks on day 3 of plan*โœจ

Patience is always needed...it didnโ€™t all go on in a day, it wonโ€™t come off in a day.

If you stick to plan, and drink your minimum of 2.25 litres of water, stop letting the odd off plan food creep in, (or an accidental off plan drink ๐Ÿ‘€) then you will lose fat as fast as it is safely possible on The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan.

Patience along with consistency are key.

Strive for 100% everyday and you will be rewarded with a healthy weight and/or cm loss each week to help keep you motivated to continue. Donโ€™t get fixated on the number, and never compare. All the time you are trying your very best, thatโ€™s the only thing you need to focus on, your effort. Youโ€™re never allowed to be disappointed by the number if you have stuck to plan 100% as this is as fast as your body will go. You are only allowed to feel disappointment if you could have tried harder. However, remember a loss is a loss and another step forward in the right direction no matter what the number or speed is.

Keep focusing on the positives.

Please note, itโ€™s best not to weigh yourself everyday, unless you fully understand how weight loss works, and itโ€™s a positive thing for you. My advice is once a week, first thing in the morning on the same day, and the studies show that optimal max number of times is 2-3 times a week. If weighing everyday you have to be prepared to see weight fluctuations up and down, which can be attritubuted to hormones, water retention, periods, constipation and the weather! Also, not drinking your minimum of 2.25 litres a day.

Youโ€™re entirely up to you...focus and envisage that goal and donโ€™t stop until you get there.

"Which Step gives the fastest weight loss?"

I am often asked this question by clients, and the answer I give is always...

"The fastest Step is the one you can stick to".

Just because the computer says that you can start on Step 1A or 1B, doesn't necessarily mean that you should.

We are all different. The amount of weight we would like to lose is different, as are our medical backgrounds, personal circumstances and activity levels.

Some people like to be able to take food completely out of the equation, in which case Step 1A or 1B suits them perfectly. Others like to sit down to a "proper" meal with their family, so prefer Step 2 or 3. Some people are gym bunnies so need more calories.
Some people only want to lose a few pounds quickly for a special occasion, others have several stone to lose.

Whatever your circumstances, I have a Step to suit you, and it's one that you will be able to stick to!
